Trail Tech Speedo fitting help needed please.

I've got an R100GS PD Classic fitted with a speedo which reads in Kilometers. I don't want to change the speedo head and so I've bought a Trail Tech Vector computer. According to the instructions, I have to attach a small magnet to the rotating part of the wheel (araldite) and then fix a sensor on the fork somewhere. Has anyone done this and where/how did you fix the sensor? The trouble is that it's a generic kit rather than specific for the bike. Any ideas?

You'll need to glue the magnet at the correct distance from the spindle on the brake disc and probably make a bracket to hold the sensor both in line with the magnet and with the correct gap from it.

Hi John,

I've got a vector fitted to my bitza.. the magnet comes as two different types if I remember.. a glue on one and a bolt through one?
I've got the bolt through one fitted to my front disk carrier.. I had one of our guys at work drill a 8mm hole through the carrier.
The sensor is fitted through one of the lower mudguard holes (I've got a high mudguard fitted) which just happened to line up with the position of the magnet on the carrier (luck rather than judgement).
I'll try and find a piccy when I get home... But as my bikes a complete bitza it might not be totally relevant.

Several other people on here have the trialtech dash's.. they might have better ways though!

Thanks very much BigYellow and Brassmonkey.....a pic or two would be very helpful. It's the sensor position and how to hold it there that I'm struggling with.

John, did your vector come with the manual?

if not, there's some handy installation tips in it.

Yup...got the manual which tells me where (relative to the magnet) the sensor should be mounted but I've not got anywhere obvious to fix it. I could epoxy it to the fork but just hoped that someone else had found a better solution, perhaps with a neat bracket....or something?

The magnet is bolted through the disk carrier and the circuit it take lines up within about 3mm of the sensor.. it works and seems accurate (but then I did spend ages with the setting before I got it right).

Thanks for that....looks very neat. Sadly though I've got the Brembos and there isn't the nice line up hole to use. Someone must have done it though......??
