Zummerzet,
My aging laptop is gradually fading so I am looking to put everything onto my netbook (which has a HD twice the size of the laptop) before it goes titsup..

Is there a simple way to copy absolutely everything across including music on itunes, photos, messages in OE and favs in IE?

Special software and cable required?

Both running xp.

If both are connected wi-fi to the internet - you could set up a home network and transfer across that.

Or - transfer to a portable HDD and copy to the new machine.

You do get peer-peer USB cables, but you'd be worthwhile buying a 300-500Gb portable drive instead.

For 2.5" drives - I'd recommend the Buffalo one (320Gb)

or, if you foresee the desire to have network storage at a later date (for storing movies and music to feed into your TV/HiFi - get one of the media-HDDs (3.5")
