I recently updated the maps on my Zumo 660 to an SD card.
I have never had a problem transferring routes to the Zumo before, but now I just can't seem to get it to work!
I have 7 routes to transfer. I have tried transferring all of the routes at once (they are in one folder), and then separately, each time to the device (not the SD card) but with no success as only one of the routes appears on the Zumo.
I shall be very grateful if someone can point me in the right direction please.

I have just noticed that the start & finish points for each route appear in "favourites" as waypoints, but the routes have not transferred over.
Another thing, 4 of the routes were provided by a friend and are in gdp (none has transferred across). the other routes are mine, and do not have a gdp suffix on them (but only one of these routes has transferred across.

Apologies for my lack of knowledge, but I have never had an issue like this before and it is driving me nuts!

you are correct to put all 7 routes in one file i.e. open up each route in a new separate mapsource window, so you have 7 mapsource windows open at once, then copy and paste each route into another mapsource window, then save it as " all routes" or whatever name you want to give it.
you should then be able to use mapsource to upload "all routes" into zumo. connect zumo to pc first, then use the "send to device" icon to upload them to zumo.

you will find that the routes are there ( click the "custom routes" icon) after you disconnect zumo, replace battery cover and restart it!
its a faff to say the least....but then garmin invented user friendly software:blast

oh and zumo may ask you if you want to recalaculkate the routes too, or it may tell " new user data found, do you wish to import?"....

rather than simple why not make it as complex and difficult as possible:rolleyes:

by the way, worth having a look at my data icon, they may be there already, and then all you have to do is tell zumo to import them!!¬

har har, easy peasy......:barf

Russ,
Looks like you were correct about checking my data. It seems they are there.
I've never had to do this before, any routes simply transferred to the device.
Is it because I now have the maps on an SD card or because I am using Basecamp instead of Mapsource?

mate, with garmin you never know why things happen they way they do!
just be grateful its worked.....

garmin software is the biggest piece of crap I have ever come across....

maybe someone on here will know why based on the painful hard won experience they have built up trying to fathom the mind of the morons who thought they amazing software developers:type

My "two'penneth":

a) if you get routes from other sources, then after you have loaded/imported them into Basecamp, then you should click the recalculate option. The, having done that, check the route out on the screen and check it is the route that you thought you had.

b) make sure that you select/use the same version of the maps on both Basecamp and your device. If the device is using a different version of the maps, it will want (need?) to recalculate the route and when it does that it might muck up the route.

c) I have always transferred routes over one at a time and always send them to the SD card. And that works, so I stick with it! I have a "List" in my Basecamp "My Lists" called "File to transfer". I copy the route I want to transfer into that list. Then, with the device connected, I highlist the list "File to transfer" and select the "Transfer to device" in Basecamp.
- repeat as necessary for all routes you want to transfer.

d) When finished, disconnect your device frm your computer and fire it up. You will (hopefully) get a message stating that it has detected new data and do you want to import it. (Not sure what the exact wording is). Say yes, and the routes will be imported/loaded up in your device.

There are others on this site who definately have a better understanding of these things than me and hopefully they will correct any non-deliberate mistakes!!!
