Hi All
Need a bit of help here, I have a 98 1100gs which has developed a whine/rumble from what seems to be the rear of the g/box it seems most noticable on the overrun I have checked the gearbox & final drive oil levels and both are o.k I cannot see any metallic particles in the oil, does anybody have any ideas what the problem may be?
thanks Hovis

With the bike on the centre stand, spin the rear wheel and just check to see if the noise isn't coming from the final drive.

If it's the gearbox, it sounds like a bearing is on the way out. ( bearing :D (boom boom ) in mind i'm only going by your description, not having heard the noise myself)

Hi All
Just had another look at the bike and have found a tiny amount of play in the final drive, it can be felt if you move the wheel when holding it at the 9 and 3 o,clock positions but not at the top and bottom, anyone any ideas?
Thanks again Hovis:confused:

Do a search, all will be revealed. I'm working at the moment, no time to post
