Transporting an Airhead?

Collective wisdom please - will a dismantled R100T fit in the back of an estate car - Audi A4? Forks are removed, swingarm is out, engine and gearbox separated and removed. All parts included - even a pair of panniers.

Is this going to fit in the car or do I need to hire a van?

at a guess yes, with forks removed they are not that big about 2ft by 3ft by 3 ft, so it should easily go in!

This is Desert Storm in Roger's boot pretty much all of it is there minus the engine which got a wee tweaking Skoda estate car probably equivalent to A4 size I don;t think the superb was out back then

What became of Desert Storm? I remember seeing that bike in Performance Bikes - built by one of the Slater brothers of Jota fame IIRC

Desert Storm is currently resident in an industrial unit in Mid Lincolnshire having been returned from Western Africa in a poor state.

Has the chap that had the accident and had to be shipped home still got her Arkwright??

Gawd there were a shitload of hours went into building her but she was a fabulous bike I had a wee toot around Rogers when he had all the leccy bits and panels back on

I didn;t realise she was damaged Arkwright any photos ? I'll pm my e mail

It's a 'T' not an RT so hopefully should be fine?! I'm about to find out

I still have her and yep it's in an industrial unit in Lincolnshire.

The damage was superficial, fairings etc etc and hopefully will be replaced soon. The engine etc was checked and in fine fettle. The disappointing bit was that the sand was washed off

I used my body to protect her in the crash and ensure that the damage was minimal ;-)

I made the decision to ship the bike back and carry on the histroy

Collected successfully the weekend before last. For reference it was an R100RS and it just about went it the back of a Mk 4 VW Golf estate but it was a pretty tight squeeze.

It's not for me - project for brother-in-law to be #2. He's 20 and will be rebuilding it over winter to be used for his first euro alpine adventure next summer - just like his dad did when he was 20, also on an R100RS. Projects progressing nicely already - frame and other stuff sent off for powder coating, engine block and other stuff sent off for vapour blasting.

Looking forward to seeing it progress

i was going to say i fitted my KTM endure bike in the back of my golf mk4 with the forks off, forgot to drain the carb though....
