Most Trials clubs have a practice area,which you can use if you are a member,round my way,- at Scarborough it's at Low North, Guisborough it's near Charltons( Nice steep place to ride too!) I'm thinking of taking it up again myself, as it is a nice sedate sport, involving only a modicum of danger!

The guy in the green with the yellow lid the smooth rider was proper old school. He never touched the clutch in the 1st section and used it when virtually still in the second. We are out next week and might take in a trial if there's a decent local one on next weekend. Good thread

I first saw Frans Verhouven is the Isle of Man at the TT in the 80's when he was a schoolboy works Honda sponsored trials rider and he was spectacular to watch.

I tried for years to get a ride in the SSDT and never made it through the ballot process.
After my sixth straight "sorry, no ride" letter I literally jumped in my car and drove up to Edinburgh to see Mairi, the event secretary, and tried the personal approach.
I think she was so shocked at what I'd done she promised me an entry.
I rode in 2004, finished all six days, no time penalties and went home with a first class award

Well, I think it looks fun, anyway. Reminds me of an Exeter trial many moons ago: managed to loop the Wasp/GS on Slippery Sam and saw my passenger laying on the track motionless. Thankfully only winded, she never came on one again. Gulp.
