I tried the new Nav app thing today. Just wanted a simple point to point trip to test it. I found it quite clunky to set up compared to the old app, but got there in the end.

The app chose a weird route so I just ignored it and went a better way and waited for it to recalculate. It didn't and wouldn't, and I couldn't see a way to manually force a recalculation. Might as will have been working with a track. A bit more testing and this was the case every time I went off-route on a couple of trips. Fucking hopeless app or am I being thick?

That’s odd.

I have been playing around with the new app. As far as I can see, the several trial routes I created, stretching from home in E1 to Scotland and, separately down to the south of France and into the Ardennes looked OK. I am pretty sure that they would have worked, had I driven them. Unfortunatel, Inam not able to drive at the moment, so going even to Waitrose is not possible.

The routing algorithm's for OSM/Garmin/Tom Tom are all quite different, it's worth experimenting, maybe the reason? It is a shame that some of the useful options in OSM like avoid cities and ability to alter 'curviness' sections between waypoints only works in OSM.
