Trip computer - is this a fault?

I was tinkering with my 1200GS in the garage today, and I turned on the ignition, let the computer do it's check cycle and tried the "Trip" button to see how many miles I'd done since last filling up. And the odometer only remained displayed. Turned the ignition off and tried again. Same thing. The button just didn't seem to work.

On the third attempt, it seemed to work fine after leaving it turned on for about 60 seconds, with the button functioning normally when pressed, displaying Odometer, Trip I and Trip II in turn.

Is this right? Or is there a problem brewing here?

Don't no if that is correct or not but mine will only work with the motor running.

was it the button on the clocks, or on the bars?

My button beside the clocks doesnt seem to cycle through the trip modes. All it will do is let me change the clock! Bar button still works though. I am correct in thinking the button on the clocks should cycle throught the trip modes too???

No, I'm referring to the Trip button on the left handlebar.

I reset the clock as well - it was 5 minutes fast after 1 month! That's the button on the instrument console.

Mine sometimes does the same when stood still but it works normally when moving.

Mine's done exactly the same - twice. I mentioned it to my dealer at the last service and they said they hadn't heard of any other reported problems with the button but if it did it again they'd check it out - and it did!

It's okay at the moment though.............
