I aquired the above in September. Sold my Transalp XL750 as I found it too tall. Rode some Bosnian TET trails on it last year and struggled on the rocky stuff.The electronics were too intrusive. Im restricting my off road missions now so thought the road oriented Triumph would be perfect.
And it is. What a lovely engine. The crossplane crank design is brilliant. Feels like a twin low down, with great tractability.
Superb riding modes with minimum intervention, and great electronic suspension as standard on the GT pro.
At 2k miles, Im very happy so far.

I swapped my Tiger Rally Pro 900 last autumn for a R1250GSA. My RP was a 2022 and I covered just over 18,000 miles in the three years I owned it. I toured Scotland twice, Ireland, French Alps twice, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway even did the Col de Sommelier on it. Longest day was just under 600 miles. Great bike. I just fancied a change. The RP has the 21” front, longer suspension, more riding modes and a few other stuff but basically the same bike.
Hope you enjoy yours as much I enjoyed mine.
 
I have the 900 GT Pro too, it's a brilliant bike. Tractability is a good way of describing it. It's light and easy to ride, the quick shifter is good fun.
 
Awesome engine and bike, I had the RP version, 42K in 5 years and loved the character of the engine.

I had a sit on one a few days ago. Supprised at very comfortable ergonomics, and a very reasonable seat height for me. 👍
May have take a test ride.
 
I have the 900 GT Pro too, it's a brilliant bike. Tractability is a good way of describing it. It's light and easy to ride, the quick shifter is good fun.
Oh the quickshifter! Its sublime...the best Ive ever used. Makes the clutch redundant most of the time.
 
I bought a new 900 GT Pro on 1st November to replace a lemon of a 1200 GT Explorer (wish I’d kept my 1250GSA instead of buying that) and it’s a lovely bike to ride. It feels very nimble after years on 1200cc+ bikes, has a decent turn of speed and my wife loves the pillion position.

I’ve only ridden it four times so far and it had an ABS fault displayed on the second ride, which reset after switching the bike off and on again, but then displayed every fault going on Sunday - ABS, TCS, transmission, engine, TPMS. The quick shifter and Speedo also stopped working.

It did reset itself eventually, but I’m not a happy bunny as the bike had only covered 417 miles. It’s going into Triumph West Yorkshire this morning for diagnosis.

Apparently this happens if/when the battery is disconnected. Resetting the date/time clears it. I never needed to try it but this was on the Triumph forum.

Took one for a test ride last year. The dealership wasn't very accommodating and the servicing costs seemed quite high.

The servicing costs were very high. Mine was going to cost me the best part of a grand every other year for the valve check! If one doesn’t use their bike much then it would be longer between checks but for me it worked out every other service.

Are there any good Indies...like the few there are for BMWs ? Presumably they'd cut the costs down by 20-30% ?

I don’t know of one. I currently have an old DR 650 being recommissioned by an Indy locally (Steeton) but don’t know if he does Triumph. I’ll ask him next time I see him. Hopefully this will be soon as I would like my old DR for spring.
 
Servicing costs dont bother me as I do all my own work (except the first service, and warranty) Im a mechanic, and dont trust anyone but myself to work on my bike.
The diagnostic tool is a free download and just requires the interface.
 
Many years ago my 1050 Tiger valve service was quoted at @ £750, if no adjustment needed. I went to an independent Triumph specialist who did it for well under £300... And he picked up things that the Dealer 'Technician' had done incorrectly.

But..on the plus side. The Valve Service on the newer Tigers has been revised to 20.000 miles now I believe.

It really needed to be. 12000 was just ridiculous and every other year at best for me. Part of the reason I changed to the R1250 GSA.

👍My VFR 800 didn't need adjusting until @60.000 miles.
 
Cant remember the last time I shimmed a tappet on one of my bikes, despite checking them at the prescribed intervals.
I think it was 1984 on my Suzuki GS750!
 
Just a quick update. The bike went in for diagnosis and they didn’t find anything wrong with it. It behaved itself on the next ride and then went for its 600 mile service.

The following weekend we set off for an overnight in Moffat and the same fault codes occurred again. This time the “Transmission fault” wouldn’t reset and the quick shifter wouldn’t work. It lost ABS, TCS and the speedo. After stopping for a coffee and searching the Triumph forums, it seems like a dodgy quick shifter is a common failure and throws up the fault codes. Switching it off in the settings menu cures the other issues until shifter is replaced. Once I did this the bike behaved perfectly for the remaining 350 miles of the weekend and was really good fun to ride. It’s going into the dealers today for repair…..
