Triumph make the decision easier

I had a similar experience after being knocked off my Sprint ST 18 months ago. It took the factory 6 weeks to get a fairing panel (one that you would reasonably expect them to have in stock) to the dealer. It would have taken longer if I hadn't contacted the factory and complained about it.

My mate who owns the Sprint ST had his throttle stick wide open while we were blasting down a hill at 140 mph. Turned out to be a frayed throttle cable that had jammed inside the sleeve. That was a month ago, and he's still waiting for a replacement.

As for the Tiger pictured at the start of the thread... If it really looks like that when it's released then my GS is safe in the garage! At first glance I thought it was a Fazer :eek

The photo is a 'spy' shot taken from the MCN web site, how reliable it is I wouldn't like to say

If it is right then I think they've completely missed the whole direction that the market is going IMHO. Adventure bikes are the fastest growing segment of the market and they are getting more off-road viable (KTM 990 for example); or on the other hand the hypermoto market looks set to explode with KTM, Ducati, BWM, Highland and rumour of a Honda.

I think I originally suggested it looked like a Fazer on stilts - bizarre decision :eek

You must be talking about recent Triumphs? My '94 Speed Triple was solid + reliable.

Mine was a 94 Sprint - only thing that was reliable was the Honda gearbox!

The Daytona was 2 yrs old 2 yrs ago.

That's what I thought. AFAIK all the switch gear was from Kwak's - but like most things I could be wrong!

Dunno about the s/w gear, but they had Honda gearboxes.

Yep. My '99 Sprint ST was much better built than the current 2004 one. It had its problems, but they were sorted out with no quibble from the factory. In fact, they were very good when the dealer tried to fob me off, getting involved and sorting the dealer out. Quite why they have acted the way they have now is beyond me.

Like Bigtwin, the warranty department has managed to put me off the idea of buying one again in the future.

And without wanting to appear 'insecure' I've got an R80 GS and an 1100 GS both with 144,000 miles on the clocks. How many Triumphs are there with similar mileages?

My Speed Triple 'felt' as if it would do the distance. :nenau FWIW...
