Triumph Tiger Sport 800

Went to Triumph East London today had a look at the bike and a sit on it, it feels small compared to the Transalp but the seat height feels about the same as the Tranny with the comfort seat on it, felt lighter albeit its 5kg heavier, all my bits are ordered and should be here Wednesday/ Thursday of next week, Im off to wales on the Tranny Thursday till Monday so will collect the bike Tuesday the 29th looking forward to getting it but really looking forward to Wales on the Honda, did a 200 mile ride yesterday in prep for Wales, faultless!!

Although the 2003 Fazer has a more modern dash 😜
True!

Bike ready to collect so 9:30 tomorrow im going to collect it, excited but after coming back from a 1500 mile trip around wales over the last 5 days on the Transalp I am so impressed with that bike im not sure the Triumph could be much better, I secretly was hoping they would ring today and tell me something had not arrives or there was a problem, and i would have cancelled it and bought a decent rear shock and a set of tubeless rims for the tranny and made a great bike into an excellent one,
ill give the Tigersport a go !!

Collected the bike yesterday 09:30 had a quick hour on it, very impressed with it apart from the screen its totally shocking, how Triumph left it as it is Ill never know up or down its useless
will try a lip but I think the design is way passed that !!
Overall very nice, let the mods begin !!

Fitted the Lip £10.88 from ebay and the difference is night and day can sustain a much higher cruising speed with very little wind blast at all now, the bike has 300 miles on it now and does feel very well glued together the Bluetooth comms works really well with being able to listen to music with track forward /back / hold volume up/down and mute, not tried the turn by turn as I have a XT fitted, heated grips are shite Triumph are going to look at them on first service if not they will be taking them off and Oxfords will be going on, Handling is superb hardly any chicken strip left on the Road5s, I love the looks and think it looks a lot more sporty than the seating position is, for me on a 3Hr ride with no stops it was very comfi no numb bum or pain of any kind, paintwork is very nice, im having the front mud guard sides colour matched and a decent open face helmet done as well for the very odd nice sunny day, Engine is very willing and eager to please to be honest its plenty fast enough for the road and pulls like a freight train, quick shifter smooth as silk and really makes heavy progression easy
All in all I am very impressed with the bike fitted a few falkles that make it nicer for me
Rob

Sounds lovely and looks smart. I'm pleased with my new Tiger too. Which screen lip thingy did you get?

This is the lip quite well built and very adjustable

Well plans have deffo now changed and instead of doing a 10 day tour around Scotland, we are going to Spain and although the roads and terrain in Scotland I feel would have suited the Transalp better than the TS800 the ride and roads to Spain will be better suited to the TS also albeit I really fell for the Tranny during our 6 days around wales the TS ergos are a bit more comfortable for me the seat is better for me than the Honda comfort seat, its got Cruise control, and the tubed tyres are a proper faf having to take spare tubes, tyre levers, repair kits and tools to remove the wheels on the side of the road, over taking a plug kit !!
I really hope ive made the right call, im not going to sell the tranny especially now ive done the suspension but Honda's reliability record is by far better than Triumphs, either way I know during the 2k mile trip id wish I was on the other bike LOL
Mind you the trip isnt till the end of June I could have something completely different :)

Done some mods to the TS800 found that Tracer 2022 7 rubber topped foot pegs fit it so ordered and fitted them, much nicer, had the front mudguard sprayed to match, fitted a tea bag seat cover, Denali sound bomb, bought a pair of Shad pannier inner bags as they fit the best ive seen, fitted bar risers went for a ride then removed them !! front fogs fitted, colour matched rim stickers fitted, first service carried out, Triumph removing factory heated grips as they are shite and refunding the money, Ill fit a set of Oxford ones, getting it ready for the trip to Spain end of the month,

Rode a 660 and found it woefully lacking in torque compared with my Super Ten but the 800, whilst still way down on torque draws almost level in terms of torque to weight. Riding one tomorrow and it will likely be my next bike.

I rode it, liked it immediately and bought one in that lovely looking blue. Thanks to Adventure Boy's comment I didn't specify the heated grips, just a rack and centre stand. I will fit either Daytona grips like I had on the Yam or Oxfords. I will see how well my Mosko Moto soft luggage fits the bike for trips.

I like uninterupted air across my visor and with the screen slightly off fully down am very happy so far. The little winglets, that the 660 lacks, make a huge differrence.

So far done one ride just for the sake of it, Glasgow to Irvine, down to Ayr then cross country to Dalmellington, Cumnock and up to Galston, Moscow (Ayrshire) and home to Glasgow.

I find the bike very responsive, the ride is a bit knobbly but I'll let the suspension settle in prior to making any adjustments. The very simple cruise control just works. The only issue is deciding how to cancel it without the sudden and very uncivilised lurch caused by touching a brake lever. Using the clutch causes a sudden blip of revs so I'll probably make good forward observation and cancel the cruise with a bit of accelerator.

The display gets a lot of criticism but for me it's great, clearly displaying a lot of information. I don't need swathes of colour but we'll see how visibility holds up in bright sunshine. Climate change means we have been getting more of that here in Scotland.

Seems decent on fuel too.

It might not work but try rolling the throttle forward past the stop, that’s how you cancel it gently on BMWs, maybe it will work the same on the Triumph

Enjoy the new bike, if I rode one up this would be on my list of candidates for sure 👍

The Ultimate Add On grips are brilliant. Got them on my Vstrom.
They won Ride best buy award.Half the price of Oxfords and work much better.

Thanks for that link Martin. Are they grippy? My only winge about the Daytona's was that they "glazed", became slippery, and it was difficult to grip them.
