I`ve had Metzeler Enduro 4 and Tourance before the Pirelli`s and was so impressed with the Pirelli`s that they`re now on both of my 1100`s.
The Enduro 4`s were very good most of the time,but felt a bit vague in cold weather and especially in the wet.
The Tourances were a vast improvement over the Enduro 4 and I`ve got no complaint with them at all .
The Pirelli MT90 Scorpion is even better than the Tourance.....
In the dry,they are damn near a sports tyre....I ground out my centre stand and chamfered my boot sole going down the mad sequence of bends into Susa in Italy without a squirm from the tyres......hooned around the Nurburgring two up (
) and they just had a bit of blueing around the edge....In the wet,there is so much feedback that I swear I can feel exactly what the tyre is doing and what the surface of the road actually feels like to touch.
Should you venture off road a little bit,they were fine going up the Col du Sommelier ( Stella Alpina ) in sleet,snow and ice.....
I run mine at the 'two up,laden' pressures of 36psi Front and 42psi Rear.
Also,I`m not exactly a slow rider and they`re lasting around 12,000 miles.
I highly recommend them

Anybody has experience with the Michelin Sirac?
Steve from F&B said that the prices had gone up on Tourances to £170 fitted now due to tyre price rises. He seem a top bloke and knows his stuff. I have to say having that spoken to him I will probably use him even if he's a few quid dearer.

I've decided to try the Pirelli's this time round... Nat Tyres are fitting them for £180... bit pricey and they didn't have any in stock... obviously the girly charm had worn off...Flipfly said:

Also I've found out that Anakees aren't great in the wet when you're close to the wear limits.... but really grippy in the dry and at least as good as any other tyre i've had in the wet went they have good treads (i'm not good in the wet no matter what tyres i have on i'm always a bit nervous tipping it in corners)

Mind you,when we were chatting at Llangollen,you said that you tend to give the bike big handfuls of throttle out of bends,whereas I tend to be smoother and progressive...that would make a big difference to tyre life.
Plus...I`m not a fat cnut

But the story is the same. As it happens you have me to thank for the drop from £183 as I told Steve that National Tyres had quoted £167, so he went back to his suppliers to squeeze them for a better discount
Yipee, Steve at F&B fitted my new Tourances yesterday. I've run em in and can wholehearted say, yeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah baby . They have transformed the bike. I thought it was good before but oh my god it's f'in fantastic now. Steve @ F&B did a top job, treated the old bus with real care and attention, (is a BM nut himself), and had some nice people waiting around for tyres to chat to. Never got a cup o tea though so take a flask!!!!! £170 fitted and balanced by hand
(looks strange and a little bit dodgy but trust the guy, this is the best way of balancing tyres). Worth travelling to have him do your tyres. GSAde

For anyone following this thread
Don't go near T66's even for one pound forty they're crap in the dry & very scary in the wet - I've been "fortunate" enough to have them as O/E on three of my four GS's

Always used National tyres at Barnsley (they are only 9 miles away from me) and they make a good job and their advice is pretty good as well as their price if you push them. New bike has Anakees on at moment seem very good but heard wear rates are not good - last bike had tourences and they were fantastic all round just a bit "Notchy" on the front at slow speeds for first 1000 miles or so.
Anyone using Bridgestone road tyres BT02s or something (not that good at remembering techy stuff) be keen to hear what they are like.

Just been to price up a new pair of tyres. Not sure whether to go for trail type again, (currently on Tourances, no complaints), or road tyres such as Bridgestone 020s, Michelin Pilot Road or Contis. I called in to speak to Trevor Richards of Pontardulais Tyres, and he recommends Michelin Anakees, (he uses them on his R1100GS). Reckons they grip better than Tourances but give less mileage. Any views???
