If I leave the bike for only a short time then start it again it struggles to idle, and will stall, once moving it regains it's power after a short time and idles fine if I stop at lights etc. As an example it did this when I stopped at the old SPC today, but by the time I reached the roundabout (2 miles) was all OK
If left to cool down, more than 30mins in this weather, it is fine :nenau

Any suggestions

Have you tried the Fazer owners club,as a Fazer 600 is the only bike listed in your profile.

Your 1st post is a bit ambiguous.Does the problem occur when the motor is cold (enough for choke usage) or hot (normal working temperature).
Twin spark or single spark?.
How many miles?.
Has the problem started since anyone has worked on the bike?.
What have you checked/replaced?.
Have you done a search quoting the symptoms to see if the problem has been seen before?.
What are the plugs like (too rich/too lean).TB balance?.

Had an issue like this last year which ended up costing loads before SPC said it was the injectors, to this day I don't believe that as they were swaping bits around like mad to find the issue by using a donor bike from the show room so could have benen one of many things as I don't believe they could have warmed it enough to test it fully. And the bike was never really the same again, but that was this time last year, and with them out of business can't really go back to them for some answers.
Last year the Halls sensor was changed, Lambda probe, both injectors, all spark plugs and leads, the alarm was re-wired, think that was about it, well thats all I know about.....

SO history, 1150GS twin spark, 33600 on the clock. Garaged with Optimate when not in use
Starts fine from cold on choke etc and runs fine, if I stop long enough for the engine to cool, no bars showing on the guage, then it will start fine and run fine.
If I stop for a short time, less than 30mins, example, stoping to fill up, then when started it struggles to idle, and pulling away is hard, have to keep the revs high, but within a less than a mile it is back to normal, can stop and engage neutral and will idle fine.

Was OK before xmas, but didn't get much use for a week or 2, now it shows these symptoms, I have done nothing more than check the plug caps for destortion etc, but these are fine, and would have said if running rich/lean it would be the same all the time not just when the engine was at full temp?

I'm lost and really can not afford a massive bill like last year, to be honest I can't afford anything this time of the year, so need advise on what could be the cause.

The only other issue I have had was the clock switching off when the ignition was off, whic wasn't the fuse, but since this has happened the clock has been fine, so if wiring I'd have thought that would be the same at all temps :nenau

OK,we can concentrate on the cheap and easy bits first.
The 1150 should idle at 1100 RPM.Is yours doing that when hot?.
Have you checked (or had checked) the throttle body synchronisation?.
Has the Throttle Position Sensor been checked for about 0.370Volts.
The TPS sets the mixture richness. The higher the figure, the richer the mixture.
Have you reset the Motronic?.Ignition on(do not start motor),open the throttle to maximum, close and repeat to set.
Do you have a std exhaust or a Remus.Consider the Cat Code Plug (CCP).
The twin spark motor also has problems with the lower plugs/leads.
All the above procedures are documented either in here,or in ADVriders hall of wisdom.Have a good read of them before attempting adjustments.
If there is some kind of sensor problem,it should be stored in the ECU,but you need someone with a reader to extract the data.
Good luck.

could it be a temperature sensor? so that the ecu thinks the engine is cold even though it is warm and be making the mixture too rich.
When the engine is cold the mixture will be OK for a cold start?

Keith, could be temp sensor although I remember that was also replaced last year, told you they did loads and couldn't remember all. Anyone know the price of these?

Will try resetting motoronic, but the sensor looks favorite, do they offer a warranty on parts? Bike is out but didn't know if the parts are covered in anyway?

Idle when it is running smooth is between 1000 & 1100rpm, so fine.

Only mod is a Y Piece, standard can :thumb
