I fitted a s/h TT hardpart to my 1150 a while ago and when cleaning the bike I moved the bars to full right lock and noticed that the front brake line was exactly positioned to be trapped between the fork and the centre of the hard part.

I looked at several other 1150s and it seems that the brake line will always be fouled by the hard part.

Doesn't seem to easy to solve with cable ties either - not enough free brake line.

Is yours an Adventure version? I thought it was only the Adventures that needed the extra "bit". :nenau

It's only the 1100 which does not need the extra part to relocate the brake line, all of the 1150 models need it, without it it's not for an 1150.

You can fit the hard part from an 1150 to an 1100 of course, then you will have the extra bit extra and gathering dust on a shelf somewhere :augie :D

Just checked mine that i installed a couple of years ago. It has the additional part to keep the brake line routed away from the hard part pad/fork stantion.
Your missing that bit.

It has to be asked but why have you fitted one?

The steering lock-stops on the frame are a bit weak and can break off if the bike falls over and the handlebars are forced onto full lock. The handlebars then get pushed into the side of the tank. The Touratech part stops the bars hitting the lock-stops. :thumb

Done loads of miles on mine, on and off road, fallen off a lot :blast

Never had a problem that this would solve :nenau
Friend of mine had a minor tumble on a gravelly road and the excess movement of the forks distorted the wishbone (according to the dealer its quite common) - what should have been cosmetic damage turned into a major repair.

Seems that my secondhand on was missing a part - mine is an 1150GSA.

I'm well aware of what TT will tell you 'can' happen. My point is I don't know anybody to whom this has happened. :nenau

You's have thought, given my lack of off road prowess, that this would have happened to me by now

Or maybe they are a con? :green gri

Mutley, I'm shocked

Let me just get this straight, you're saying that it's quite possible that Touratech sell protective bits of bent Aluminium that actually fulfil no useful purpose whatsoever and may be just purely decorative.

Many peoples worlds may be turned upside down if this were true :toungincheek

Acshewerlay I was suggesting they might be selling a part that, if wrongly fitted, would make the bike dangerous to boot :P

I've fitted the Wunderlich item to my 1150 twin-spark, nicely made and fitted in minutes. No need to tie pipes or cables out of the way.

Hard part

Imagine that - wunderlich - touratech et al selling aluminium bling that don't do anything - get outa here!!!!
