What thickness of metal do they use on the base plate for their mounts? Ie the bit that has the rubber bits between them.

The base is 3mm

Edit - or do you mean those really thin steel plates the mount is held in?

It's not the bits that are bent to go around the cross bar IYSWIM?

Sounds like 3mm is right

Righhttttt........ had to think about that, yes if we are talking 2600 mount then the very bottom plate that has the 4 rubber bits on is indeed 3mm
