Is there anything i can put on or apply to these boots to soften them up a little bit and make them more comfy , i know it will happen in time , but has anyone used anything before ,

I've allready been told to on them but don't want to smell like a French man . TIA James .

Don't bother - honestly - they'll be soft as anything after a couple of wears.

And don't put wax on them - there's no point in having a gore-tex boot, then making sure it can't breathe with wax.

Nikwax state that their product is compatible with Gore-Tex membranes and doesn't affect breathability.

I know - and I laugh every time I read it.

They are right - it doesn't get near the gore-tex, so it doesn't affect it; it's compatible - it stops the leather breathing though.

I'm sure they are working on a breathable wax, but till then....

What does stop transpiration through the Gore-Tex membrane is a sodden leather outer. Best to treat the leather then.....

You're right - if the leather gets completely soaked, it wil stop breathing till it dries out - put your trousers over your boots.

Or you can wax them, and ensure that they never breathe, even in the dry.
