Is three weeks long enough to do a round trip to Turkey? Hoping to head off this weekend through Slovenia, Albania etc. Would it leave any time to travel in Turkey itself.
Starting in Nottingham and avoiding toll roads where possible.

Yes.
Oh, i see. It's approx 800-900km. Sounds like a lot, but it's now quite literally one long road between Igoumenitsa and Istanbul. The motorway in Greece (called the Egnatia Odos) is brand new, empty and a good road all the way....well, other than when you get to Thessaloniki when it becomes part of the city's ring road. It'll take you all the way to the Turkish border the other side of which is a 2 into 3 lane motorway the rest of the way. I did it in a day last year, with 2 hours worth of stops along the way.
It's worth noting that there was only one service station on the entire Greek section of the road (Igou-Turkey side), so you'll have to plan to leave the road if needing fuel. There are sign posts at each junction telling of how it is to the nearest petrol.

do mind that around Pindos (Metsovo, Grevena) area there are often bear accidents! bears climb the road fence as they try to reach southern parts of the area and there have been numerous accidents because of them.
