does anyone know what i need to be able to watch tv on my pc? i just want the ordinary channel,s bbc 1/2 chanell4/5 i don,t watch itv coz it,s shite :D and i live in a flat so i don,t want to have to put in a new aerial, any ideas? thank,s .

I have a Winfast card in my computer, which not only receives tv with a normal UHF aerial, it can also act as a video recorder on the disk, not much over £100 from memory.

Itv is aways shite, even if you do not live in a flat.

I have a Leadtek Winfast PVR2000 card installed in my PC. It receives, views and records TV via UHF socket and radio via VHF socket. It also has s-video/composite/stereo inputs to capture from VHS / Video camera with hardware encoding into MPEG1/MPEG2/DVD format files. It works really well.

I paid around £73 including delivery from Novatech.

I've got a Pinnacle PCI tv card.......less than 50 quid and although I take the input from a cable TV box, it's not bad on a small aerial on the monitor top.

You can get simple TV cards for about 30 quid now....try any PC mag or online ;)

The more advanced ones give you teletext, recording to hard drive (though you can do this anyway in other ways) and some other fancy functions.

I've got a Hauppage Nova-T digital terrestrial card in mine (I believe there is a USB external version too) and an external USB dongle gadget on the mac (Eye-TV DDT?) that does the same thing more smoothly for the hard of thinking mac user.

If you have a questionable signal you might find the Freeview gives a better picture on some channels, but until you plug it in you won't know which ones (if any :D ).

Do these fantastic bits of electronics, also allow you to plug in your 'other' games consoles? So rather than having to use a TV to play the games, can you could use the PC monitor instead. Just thinking about saving some space.

Thanks

Don't know how much your looking to spend but I just got a Samsung 910MP 19" LCD PC Monitor/TV from Curry's for £245. It's for my daughters bedroom so she can have one display for her PC, TV and Playstation to save space. It even has PIP so you can watch TV whilst on the PC. Excellent bit of kit.

thank,s for the replies everyone, :thumb off to trawl the computer stores this weekend and see waht i can get.
