Twat suit or no twat suit...that is the question!!?!

So the reason for Paris-Dakar gods using the R2 is because that's basically what it was designed for-off roading in hot climes requiring good ventilation.

Correct

It wasn't designed for using on road or in cold weather.

I agree about the cold weather bit .......... not the road bit.

So that pretty much renders it useless in the UK.

Disagree completely. If you're cold use the layer system. If it's raining use an overjacket. :nenau

If you use it onroad, you risk injury due poor abrasion qualities.

I've seen it "abrasion tested" and the rider was fine.
If you use it offroad in UK then chances are it's winter-ish and the R2 will make you freeze unless you layer up underneath.

Agreed

So if you do all your riding off road in Morocco, get an R2,if not get anything else,as it will probably be more usable and will almost certainly be cheaper-plus you won't look a complete pillock.

I don't think this is so ............. and I think they look good. :aidan

But what's the point of wearing a jacket over it ?

The R2 has a Goretex liner and is waterproof,so why the need for something on top ?

Because the shell wets out, the gortex stops working and you get cold:thumb

Given the choice (and the readies £££££)

my choice would be in order.

RUKKA

REV-IT

and H.G.

leave the twat suits to the err....

There is a reason why the nickname for these suits seems to have stuck :D

My r2 pro suit ..... i would score as follows (have to agree its a shame about colours and image post LWD)

warm weather
Jacket 9/10
trousers 8.5 / 10
cold weather
jacket 6/10
trousers 5/10
wet weather
jacket 5/10
trousers 5.5/10

overall its a good suit for the not too hot, not too cold and not too wet weather, i like mine ..... again except for the image and if its now known as a T--t suit so i guess i'm now a T--t and a tosser .....

you pay your money take your choice and either live with it or sell it ......

Any decent Jacket and pants, then an Army issue gortex oversuit :thumb

My new Desert camo jobbie is 100% waterproof, windproof yet has ventilation and is a pukka quality bit of kit for £110 :thumb

Army surplus brand new!!!

Twat suit is ok, but a pain in the arse if you are caught in a shower and you haven't put the trouser liners in. At least with an oversuit you can put it on/take it off at will:thumb

Only prob is you look a numpty, but hey I'm used to that, never been a fashion victim :blast

mmmm 100% waterproof you say ;) wouldnt have thought that was an issue in the desert :)

It didnt look too bad, I'd just have been worried about the water running down your back when you took the helmet off and put the hood up ;)

so I've been doing my own reading and I'm more convinced that the Rev'it Cayenne Pro suit is the one for me.....seems like a cracking all rounder and better priced than the BMW affair......:)

It's Gortex matey :thumb2 Apparently it pi*ses down from time to time hence the issue of gortex desert camo. I assume that it didn't rain as much as expected, hence the surplus stock :D:D:D

I worried about the hood too, if it becomes a problem there's always scissors and the art of invisible mending :blast

Sold my twatsuit 4 years ago-not missed it a bit,I found my Hein Gericke Tuareg suit was more versatile for my liking so kept that and bought a Streetguard 2, I now have a choice of 2 excellent suits:thumb2
The Tuareg is getting on a bit and I've looked at replacing it with the Rev It, the jacket in this pic...is it really that short-or is it being modelled by a yoof who doesn't know where the waist of his jeans should be

Whilst I'm at it.....the arms look on the long side and the lower front pockets look almost unusable unless you had dislocated shoulders ;)

I've got the Rev It Cayenne Pro jacket and pants.

The jacket isn't as short as it looks in the pic but it is a tad shorter than some-but the bonus being that it zips to the Pro pants.

I'm 6'1" and it fits me fine.I ordered the pants in the long version and again they are a great fit.

But I wear the jacket on it's own most of the time when popping down the cafe etc.

Not sure what you mean about the lower front pockets being unusable !!

Where should they be ?

I've used the jacket and pants this week in temp hovering around zero and 30 knot winds and it was brilliant.

I've also got caught in a down pour and it was 100% waterproof.

Only had mine since Oct but a mate had his back in the summer and used it on a 2000 mile trip to Spain-he said it was great in the heat, obviously with thermal lining removed. He said the venting system works brilliantly.

North Oxford Motorcycles and Vines of Guildford were recently doing some good deals on clothing. They would be worth giving a call if you know the size you are after to see what they can do. Park Lane might be worth a call too, as they were off loading stuff fairly recently.

Aah....but I might be a Tw@t.....:pullface

Seriously....day trip for me on Friday to go and try a couple on.....and directly compare Revit with RP2. As I've already got a warm suit I don't really need another, but I will be using it off road and the idea of being able to remove goretex sounds great to me (after cook-in-the-bag experience of July in the French Alps last year .....phhhhoooooeey that was hot!). Like the idea of built in protection and vents....:eek

Will keep y'all posted! :thumb2

i picked up my brand new gsa yesterday and wore my brand new twat suit. i like you was considering the rev it cayenne and to be honest after reading some of the replies on here i was dreading the ride home thinking i was going to freeze. but, i am pleased to say i was lovely and warm, can't fault it, comfort and warmth, not used to that coming from sports bikes and leathers. i know the outer isn't waterproof, but then i still have my alpinestars el nino oversuit and now i have panniers i have somewhere to carry the waterproofs !!!
