Twat suit, or not?

Similar experience, but I got wet. Set off for Wales on a humid sunny day. I left the lining out thinking I would fry with it in. Heavy rain soon came down after I hit the motorway. My Rallye 2 took in all the moisture like a sponge and soon I was frozen. Pulled in at a service station to put the liner in but the damage had been done by that point. T-Shirt underneath was soaked.

as said before when its wet it is wet, some would say if you don't have the lining in you'll get wet. I have ridden in pouring rain on the motorway down to 40mph for 30 minutes and when we stopped I went to put on the linings and found that I was not wet.

I remember that well !:augie:augie

I have a Rallye 2 pro approaching 4 years old and I do ride with it in all weathers as well as touring - its a versatile bit of kit, but it needs looking after to get the most from it - Keeping the gore proofed etc. I picked this because its a great allrounder -

Last July I rode through Europe in the heat wave at 38 degrees for a few days - God I loved it then with all of the venting that it has :D god send !

when out and about with risk of rain I take a Paramo smock as a base layer with me to separate my skin from the Gore lining - if it pisses it down it still keeps me warm and mostly dry.

if its a suit purely to be used for this country that you are wanting, sacrifice the few really hot days that would warrant extreme venting and go for a more weather biased alernative like the atlantis or HG alternatives :nenau

So, I've been thinking about biting the bullet and investing in a twat suit, and wondered what the general consensus is amongst fellow tossers? I tried one of the new HG ones on last weekend and looked like a Star Wars character! The cost was quite reasonable compared to the ones I saw at Bahnstormer yesterday (£1000). The question is, should I or shouldn't I?

For what they cost new they're definately not worth it. They're a two season suit at best.
However, if you can get a cheap used one they're a great warm weather suit, and obviously good if you like to get muddy.
At this point I usually point out my RP2, in perfect nick, cost £185. Oh, there I go again...:augie
As for image, who the feck cares? You wear what you want, not what others want you to wear. :thumb2

Just bought the HG Desert Sheltex jacket and trousers, £350 all in.:thumb

Very comfortable, more pockets than I know what to do with, I've just got to come to terms with looking like a stormtrooper!:augie

Caught a glimpse of myself in a shop window on Ascot high street, and thought, what a tosser!:blast

Well, was out on the drz in the rain and got soaked this to me would indicate that the screen and winglets on the GSA do a very very good job

Im on my second rallye 2 suit.

I think its a fantastic piece of kit, carry the goretex jacket on bike and if it looks like rain i put it on in good time.

Have an old HG suit too and thats nearly as good but cheaper.

The Rallye 2 is ace but way way way over priced, a good second hand suit at say 300 quid is money well spent i would say :)

not not and not

i'm sure they are a wonderful functional bit of kit but i'm fooked if i'm going to wear advertise for bmw at a mad price after shelling out for a premium bike they should give you one when purchasing the bike . (no i still would not wear one )

oh and you look a tool in them sorry to all the wearers but my opinion

Got a Rallye 3 suit and love it.
Did 24,000 miles last year, mostly wearing a Streetguard 3 jacket and have done about 4,000 mikes in the Rallye 3 and much prefer it.

I'm an instructor, out there day in, day out, come rain or shine.
I've had my HG Master V suit for over 2 years now and can't recommend it highly enough.
Warm with the liner in, cool with it out and waterproof either way.
Good pockets, lightweight and hard wearing.
And you get the HG two year warranty on top of the standard Goretex one.
Had my trousers exchanged late last year after they sprung a wee leak in the crotch area and was given a pair of the new Master V trousers as a replacement.
The updates on the new troo's are air vents with drylock zips on thighs and a second full length zip at the waist so you can wear the bib 'n' brace and zip the jacket to the trousers.
Can't vouch for or against the twat suit but when I eventually have to replace my kit I know my money will be safe spent on another Master V.

:beerjug:
My money would also go into another Master V if needed, but it looks like my Master V still has plenty of live left....

Just a thought for those that moan about the price..............seeing as how a lot of peeps treat the Twat Suit as a fashion accessory and change it when they change bikes / the new version comes out (who mentioned 1200 owners :D) they come up regularly on here and ebay.

I got my jacket and troosers (immaculate, as new condition) for less than the price of a run of the mill HG jacket off ebay :thumb2

Street Pro 3 to Pro Rallye 3

Hi
Been reading this thread, haven't posted for ages as ... well I'm always out on me bike to be honest.
I've owned a Street Pro 3 suit (is that what it's called?, didn't really pay that much attention) for 18 months and it's been the best kit I've ever had, it's done 25,000 miles in all weather (went to Glasgow in -7c 16 months ago with just the winter liners and a t-shirt on for the two days riding, also last Sept went to Valencia for two weeks on the bike and it got to 30c+ with no problems playing in a dry river bed/dealt with torential rain in france on the way down, I was bone dry underneath) awesome bit of kit, however the zips have started to come away from the fabric on the jacket the bottom and the zip that attaches the trousers in the summer have come away so I have to rely on the winter zip (which is very hot from April onwards) to keep the trousers and jacket attached to each other.
So I took it back to Alan Jeffries BMW today in Bradford, I've got to say they were brilliant.
No messing aroud with the old "well this is not covered by the guarantee" or anything like that they just got on with replacing the gear apologising because they had to source the trousers from Germany cause I'm so stupidly tall, which would take longer to sort out.
I even asked if I could replace the gear with the new Pro Rallye 3 suit instead (as I don't want to be in this position again in 18 months with zips) and they said "just go pick which colour you want".
Awesome service, say what you want about the price, but I'm sure that HG etc don't give the same aftersales service. I know I've never had it this with another bike gear provider, they usually just want the sale and afterwards look at you with disdain if the gear needs replacing. This I think is why BMW are so much bigger a company than HG.

That's my .02p worth anyway.

Looking forward to testing the PR3 suit, I do roughly 20k miles per year in all weather so should be able to put it through it's paces.

Cheers

G

Thats awesome! can't believe you ride in the snow! I'm not brave enough to venture out if it is frosty, never mind if there is snow!

been using the rallye 3 suit for over 6 months and looked at the comp hg, rukka , revit , ect tried the hg tuareg suit previous for three years few things the velcro fastners kept rubbing around the neck area had to cut them off ,when the outer materials got wet it passed straight through to the shelltex wet arms even though i proofed it regular so the conclusion is that after using the rallye 3 for well over 8 months have found it to be a much better investment for all year riding but have been using a base layer , and a micro fleece underneath, last thing bought it of fle bay as new for half price bargain:thumb2
