Twat suit, or not?

Go on do it ignore the likes of Rukka, Halvarsonns, Vannucci, Held, HG etc and buy the BMW suit then you can buy the matching rucksack, boots, gloves , teeshirts and leatherette thong or posing pouch (all with suitably visible and reassuring logos) and fit in with the rest of the flock.

Have a look a these.

Tell 'em you're a Tosser and they'll look after you: You'll get all the help the you need.

Hi mate,

Have you got one of these jackets. I would be interested to know how good they are. They look to have some good features.

Cant afford one then mate eh :D

You sound like a tit no matter what you'd be wearing

No quite the opposite I CAN afford one but bought RUKKA instead at vastly reduced prices in Germany.

I own a rallye 3 suit and can honestly say that without a doubt it has been the best most versatile suit I have ever owned and can be configured in various ways to suit conditions. I also managed to negotiate a substantial discount from the dealer (due to the amount of money I spend with them:rolleyes:) which actually made it a bit cheaper than some of the other "high end" clothes.

If you do go for it just ignore the small minded individuals that take the piss and suggest you are part of a flock or are an E&C wannabe etc etc yawn yawn - after all, in their own stupid way they to are part of a flock (but I suspect their IQ is low enough not to realise...) - im sure they buy branded goods, whether its jeans, designer sunglasses, premium beers, cars whatever..... so they can just feck off and do one.

Try it, and if it works for you go for it - if not, go for something else.

Simples!

Well said, he's quite right go for what you like, don't let small minded tits inhibit your judgement. They are the sort who are full of crap like"yeah mate I dialled in 2 clicks of rebound damping and it's made me much faster on a track". E.g. Full of shit

Addendum : over last 5 days I've travelled from UK to Livigno, loads of passes , Pisa and now Corsica as I type :)

Weather ranged from blazing sun now to torrential rain in germany on way to baden baden, temperature wise on sat I left livigno at plus 2 and arrived in Pisa having seen plus 34 on bike.

I've remained bone dry in the rain, warm enough in the cold, and as cool as is possible in the heat, my twat suit is the best bit of kit I've owned in 25 years of legal road riding and various adventures:)

I love the rukka suit Wapping uses and the kit Yorkie wore looked good too.

All about taste, to those who take the piss for sake of it, shut the fuck up and get on with your riding :)

I recently bought a new , cheap in comparison, suit which was guaranteed 100% waterproof. It was like riding in a condom. I hated it so much that I sold it after 2 weeks. Did I say I hated it... yes I hated it !
Now have twat suit Rallye 3 and love it for comfort and breathability.armour and ability to carry a camelbak.
To hell with rain, if its bad, put an over suit on
I once watched a pro cycling programme, which claimed that, "If you cycle to work every day in England, you will only get rained on 17 times in a year.'
Getting wet is a question of distance increasing the chance and for me on a 8 mile work journey, this is not an issue.
On a long trip, take an over suit. Simple.

Adventure Bike rider issue 5 did a good review on top end textile touring jackets and you'll have to buy it to see their results. £200 to £750
Reviewed were Bone Dry,Buffalo , Richa,Weise,HeinGericke,Furygan,Held,Lindstrans,Alpine Stars,Rev'It and Rukka.
Twat suits did not feature:D

Me too ... saved £500.00 :thumb

Got a Tw@t jacket and just don't wear it. When it rains it gets absolutely soaking and drips water all over the place
Elbows fill with water, run down into your gloves when you get off the bike

Treat the jacket with waterproofing? Shouldn't have to do that I'm afraid on a jacket costing THAT much :blast

How hard can it be to make a Goretex jacket with liner removeable that can be used in all weathers both hot and cold? Seems like manufacturers ahven't managed it yet although they are producing garments costing around £1000.

I was going to just go for a Goretex BMW affair seeing as I live in the UK. And it always rains here. However having spent last week in France at 25 degrees plus a Goretex jacket would have me soaked through in sweat in no time. So back to the drawing board. Back to the Rallye 3. But everyone say how bad it is in the wet. As has been said why spend £1000 on a suit and then find that I need to put on a plastic over coat when it rains. CRAZY.

For me spending a grand on clothing is a once in a lifetime job.

Maybe a set of Ex Army Goretex could be a new GS fashion.

So what's the best price on the Rallye 3? Any dealer running a clothing trade-in / end-of-season promotion? I reckon it should be a good time to get one, or not?

Not waterproof, twat looks, mostly used on tarmac, bl**dy expensive, not warm, but still very very nice IMHO! :thumb

So, I've been thinking about biting the bullet and investing in a twat suit, and wondered what the general consensus is amongst fellow tossers? I tried one of the new HG ones on last weekend and looked like a Star Wars character! The cost was quite reasonable compared to the ones I saw at Bahnstormer yesterday (£1000). The question is, should I or shouldn't I?

No - unless you want to look like a twat, the clue is in the name DOH!

...... and the only person who thinks you look cool will be you, not even other twat suit wearers cos they quickly realised their mistake soon after buying theirs.

They look cool when they are on there bike. They don't when they are walking round.

Its all a bit of a fashion statement.

Much like owning a GS (Grabs helmet and ducks)

They look much better than some of the leather suits some people wear.

What I can say is that they may be expensive but I recently slid down the road on mine and not only did I escape with only a bruise where there was no armour but the suit was barely touched.

I also saw someone wreck their bike off-road, put a hole in their helmet  and again the suit saved them from serious injury and was unmarked.

I really don't understand the malevolence of some people towards the RP3.

At this time there really is no do it all riding suit that offers protection, comfort, waterproofability and breathability in all the weather conditions found in a temperate climate. It's all a matter of compromise, so are you stupid to wear a suit with a removable inner w/proof liner? I don't think so, it's just a matter of where your preferences lie. Apart from top end gear, most goretex jackets have a Z liner, meaning the goretex liner is still on the inside, only you can't remove it when it gets hot, once the DWR wears off these jackets become waterlogged on the outside so how stupid is that?

Oh, and the comments about not wanting to be a walking advert for BeeM, I don't think 2 roundels constitutes overkill, rukka, hein gerike et al all have their brand name plastered over their gear, I don't want to be a walking ad for Alpinestars.

If you use your bike for anything remotely adventurous you are likely at some stage to have a tumble. Leaving aside the fact that you're probably sweating profusely in your goretex, there is a chance that when you fall you put a hole in the suit. An easy fix on the RP3 as any sewing is not going to breach the integrity of the waterproof layer.

My local dealer did a 10% discount so £800, the price of a rukka jacket.

Now if your beef is more to do with the fact that people with more money than you buy their RP3 as a fashion accessory to go with their new GS without understanding the compromises the suit has that's another matter, but it's hardly the RP3s fault!

Twat suit? Apart from the lovely lady in the recent dianese ads most people look a twat in riding gear when off the bike.

FWIW I ride and work, every day, all year, in all weathers on a bike. I have a locker full of gear (because there is no 1 do it all suit) and will be digging out the rukka for the winter.

So if you can afford only 1 suit and ride all year, or don't want the faff of putting in liners/over suit, stick mainly to tarmac, especially motorways, then the RP3 is probably not for you. But that really doesn't make it a bad suit!
