Twin cam or single

Tell me, did you have the tc remapped also. If you did was there a marked difference after?

Yes. I wasn't sure about this BUT I was disappointed that the TC was quite harsh in the 4-5-5K rev range and worse than my old remapped single cam. A mate of mine had his TC remapped for the same reasons. I had a go on his about 4 months ago and was frankly astonished at the difference...felt a little quicker but not much TBH and I put this down to more miles and a looser engine. However, is was soooo much smoother than mine.

Anyway, got mine done with similar results...I would have to say that the difference in overall performance is not as marked as my SC BUT virtually eliminated the harshness and reduced vibes overall. Really has enhanced the enjoyment of the bike, can't wait for my first tour of the year in April!

Well worth it in my opinion...and for me, a better outlay than for say an end can.

Cheers

Up 3 years for 3 grand. Either a cheap sc or a dear tc. R1150gs best value if you can find a low milage one.

But that is just taking 3 steps and 1 decade back in time! :rob

I would agree with others in that any real difference in performance between a MkII and a Twin Cam will be more down to the riders ability, tyres and suspension. They're both big twins so will buzz and vibrate a bit but any significant difference would be down to how its set up i.e valve clearances/throttle balance etc. If you plan to keep it a while the TC may be better simply because it will be a newer model, but having ridden a TC I couldn't see any reason to change my MkII for one.

Tested a MKII when they came out. Hated it. Tested a TC RT, liked the engine but not the bike. Tested a TC GSA and loved it. Bottom line. You'll have to ride them both.
