when I ran mine in I ran it to the limit frequently at each mileage/rev point and I have only changed oil, never needed to top up...
I ran it in harder than I usually ride it

Thank you Rodders, that's exactly what I did with my recent f650gs SE and what I have concluded that I should do with my latest GSA.

Harder than normal is the difficult bit and,in the end, I did many unnecessary journeys purely to run the bike in.

I have come across the first 20 miles method before but I seriously could not do that to any of my engines so I'll go with the manual. I feel I have to earn every 1,000 revs by increments so, yes, the next 1000 miles will be a pain

I have heard these engines really sweeten up at 23,000 miles
