As the last BM I had was an old R100 RT, and I'm not really up to date with all the new bikes, I would like to ask about Twin Spark engines.

Do all 1150 GS have this engine and does it make a difference?

Thanks in advance

Chris

No they don`t all have it and yes it does make a difference.

The difference being yet another pointless BMW overcomplication that does nothing other than compromise reliability. :augie

yes, there is that i suppose :)

twin spark makes it easier to pump the water out cos there's more holes in the engine:augie

Its easier to convert a twin spark to single spark than it is to convert a single spark to twin spark :aidan

Twin sparks cost more at major service time :blast

Twin sparks work well on very large combustion chambers, normally 2 valve very oversquare engines ( requiring high domed pistons) with large capacity cylinders. They increase the speed & efficiency of the flame travel ( now on two fronts) reducing the amount of ignition advance required for efficient combustion....
"Compact" combustion chamber spaces ( especially with squish bands) do not gain any noticable increase in efficiency..
