Two up touring…. MZ style

Yes, it's an MZ TS250/1 Supa 5. Hence its personalised number plate I'd guess. I bought a new one in 1980 to commute into Edinburgh for a couple of years. As usual, I couldn't resist modifying it, so it got a Honda TLS front brake, Kawasaki switch gear, Magura levers and a Cibié headlamp. However, it really wasn't much fun to ride, even if the speedo did go past the stop at 80 mph.

Brilliant , was on the Isle of man in 78 and camping across from me an my mate was a young German couple who came fully packed on a zundapp 50, couldn't believe it, even now I think man I take my hat off to them.
I remember the MZ owners club night at port soderick in 1979; that was wild; :D

Was at a bike rally in north Berwick a few years ago and a few boys turned up on them, took me back to all the old boys running them to work and that mad ding dee ding ding firing noise when sitting at the lights next to them, I watch a guy on u tube supercub adventures he has one, smashing.

Sell it and buy a Himalayan. You’ll not go wrong, trust me.
I like the bm. I’d like to have a few bikes in my garage but alas 1 will have to do. I hadn’t had a boxer for 7 years or so due to a crash not my fault. A bit of bad advice and me not being happy with the repaired bike. There was nothing wrong with it but that didn’t make me feel any better. I felt back at home on the r. JJH

"Five gears MZ. They started off in Saxony, close to the Czech border….. It just goes to prove you really can tour and have fun on anything."

I could not agree more. Would they have made better memories on a £23k multistrada? I doubt it.

Fewer laughs definitely

My aunt and her daughter rode to the South of France on step through Hondas (one each) I can't remember how long it took them they would certainly have been using minor roads. My aunt is long dead but I will be meeting my cousin Saturday as I have 40 family members descending on my house for my mum's 90th birthday, I will ask her about the South of France trip as I would like to know myself. She's 70 now
