Here and there, now and then.
I headed out to the Forest of Bowland today on my Guzzi V85TT with my pal Dave who has the Centenario version. We went via the M6 north to the A6 on the north side of Preston, then to Goosnargh to pick up the old Roman road that overlooks Morecambe bay. The roads were very wet in places with lots of standing water, and the sky was low black and dark grey clouds threatening a down pour. Had a coffee and a cheeseburger at Devils Bridge, only three other bikes there. We were either just ahead or just behind the rain so over trousers not needed.
We then rode to Ingleton and took the moor road over to Slaidburn for a brew and sticky buns, but the cafe was shut, so on to Dunsop Bridge and the cafe was shut there as well. Buggeration it was like being on a forced diet. The weather was brightening up so we went to Jefferies Hill for a view over the valley. Then on to the SuperBike store at Preston, it wasn''t as good as we expected, J+S near Delamere is far better with much more choice. Called in at the Rufford Marina cafe for a brew as we got nearer home and they were just closing up for the day. I reckon I saved myself at least 1500 calories with these places being shut. Average fuel consumption for the 160 mile trip was 61mpg.

Where did all that good weather come from? It's been absolutely shite up here today!!

(Only jealous. Glad you had a good ride.)

They are very nice looking bikes, glad you got out and had a good day.

Great part of the world and I bet the loping roads from Settle to High Bentham will suit the Guzzi well. I agree about J&S Northwich. I was on the fence about a jacket and called in at J&S Bristol. It was tiny compared to Northwich, it felt like a local Spar!

It was touch and go at times, whilst at Devils Bridge we considered going to Dent to get lunch at Margarets little cafe. However the clouds were black and it looked as if it was raining that side. Shame really as she would have brightened up our day immensely.
:D

Nice trip Al. My back yard.

We went to Dent and Margaret’s cafe on Sunday. It was packed and she was very flustered. Bacon butty and Simnel cake was very very good though.

J&S Aberdeen on a sunny easter Sunday, one of the 4 dry days up here in almost a month 😩

You've got to make miles when the sun shines, and in Al's case find more calories.😊
I felt like yesterdays run was sponsored by Slimmers World? I never have that problem when I'm with you, no wonder Dave is built like a racing snake :D
I didn't call you as I thought you were still doing your Nanny McFee role on Tuesdays.

I've got a long weekend of being nanny from tomorrow, Family gig at Ribby Hall till Sunday, fishing tackle packed.
I feel your pain when you turned up at Rufford Marina and It was closed. You're right about Dave, he needs more pies.
I think he's still traumatised from the weekend he spent with us in Bridgnorth.
And lose points for not calling at Knott End chippy.:D

Something I forgot to mention, that was Dave's bike was suffering from a sticking gear change. His bike is less than two years old and has 11500 miles on it, but he uses it to commute and has used it regularly over winter. He was having problems getting up and down the box, but diagnosed it as crud in the gear lever bush. A liberal dose of WD40 eased it off but he stripped it down at home today.
I'll leave a link to his write up and photos on the MG owners forum as it may help for a bit of preventative maintenance. I'll do mine sometime this year.
