Is it wise or possible without risk to remove the two wheels as I am getting new tyres fitted next week and I would like to do it all in one journey. Sorry if this has been covered before. All decent answers will be appreciated and I can laugh at the rest. Thanks lads for your time, Ricky.

Axle stand or bottle jack, or just a pile of bricks, under the sump guard should keep it reasonably stable.

Just don't go stumbling around the bike in the dark

Tie the Centre stand to either the front axle (refitted) or something toward the front of the bike so the centre stand can`t fold up if it rocks forward ...done it loads of times few bits of wood under the rear drive to stop it rocking backwards:D

works best with two ratchet strap from the centre stand legs to either end of the re-fitted front axle - next to the fork leg.

This way - if you're brave - you can push the bike forwards onto the front forks and refit the backwheel first while the rear is in the air.

you may feel more comfortable at this point to wedge an approprate length piece of wood- 3 x 3- between the final drive hsg and the floor.

Then - let it drop back down and re-fit the front.

Easy innit ? :thumb

Both wheels off made easy:

1) Remove rear wheel. Bike will rest on front wheel naturally.

2) Put BIG chunk of wood or something else solid enough under final drive.

3) Put weight (20 kg) on the rear luggage rack until front wheel comes off the ground. Secure whatever you put on it so it can't fall off!

4) Remove front wheel.

5) Put another chunk of wood under front forks to make sure nothing happens while you're off with the wheels. Tie center stand to front fork to be even more sure.

6) Assemble in reverse order.

Done it like this before, but now I just take a few tools and ride to the tyre fitters. Take one wheel out there, refit it with new tyre, then do the next. Easy and I don't have to drive the cage to get there, no hassle.

Cheers,
Michel

I have the job 50% done as you can see. Now have to wait until Tuesday to get the tyres on and hopefully put humpty dumpty back together again. The joys of living in Northern Ireland. Ricky.

;)

Why has nobody commented on the garage, carpet, walls, cushions, bike, etc.......all the witty guys must be out tonight. It is Northern Ireland....i am surprised you couldn't tell....Ricky.:nod

Do you usually suspend your tent from the rear mudguard like that? :D
