went to willams in manchester to look at tyers and what was the most common on a 1200 gs all the bikes had difrent types on the second hand bikes my bike has contie on the two new gs had on michilan acnease 2 on ar they eney good :confused:

You could do a search on here for 'tyres'. Plenty of options depending on what sort of riding you want to do...Tourances, TKCs, Trail Attacks...the list goes on.

Old style Tourances do it for me ... not had Anakee's on any of the 10 GS's I've had so far ... Tried Trail attacks, and went back to Tourances :thumb

Most of the tyres are good, Old Tourances are well respected, Ive just put Anakees on as they are getting rave reviews from people who I know and respect. I suspect though this is a choice that comes down to personal 'seat of the pants; feelings. You may want purely 'street' tyres, there are good deals on Mitchelin Road Pilots if you are never going to venture down a gravel road.

I have Anakee 2s for about 1K miles now and wouldn't have them again....look great, good and predictable grip...in the wet as well and good on the gravelly lanes around Hampshire as well BUT I have to issues;

1) By god they are noisy...even with earplugs...much more so than the Tourance EXPs I had before.

2) On the shite we resurface our roads with ( a bit of tar with some gravel thrown on it) the bike feels unstable as the massive block tread pattern tries to follow the gravel.

So...I would have gone for Roadsmarts if I didn't do the gravel filled nadgery lane stuff I like doing. Otherwise it is back to Tourances for me. Or I might try the new Dunlops DT91s but feedback on these is thin on the ground....so hard to decide!!!:blast

Hope this helps
Cheers

I got anakee's on my gsa, some will tell you different but the two sets iv'e had wear wierd on the rear and are noisy, i only got 3000 miles out of this set and they are nearly fecked!!!!!
Give the anakee's a miss there sh*te!!!!!!!!!

Had them fitted 300 miles ago, very nice in all conditions so far and as ianran states there are some good deals around for them.

I find Roadsmarts fine on gravel strewn lanes, no worse than Tourances on this stuff, unless your hitting mud or actual deep gravel tracks I cannot see any point in runing dual purpose tyres.

Yep, have to agree the roads in Hampshire had the cheap fix, what makes it worse is that the roads are already being dug up by the water, gas and electric company's :eek:

I'm genuinely surprised about the neg comments on anakkee 2 s, I switched to them 2 sets ago and love them, I guess it really is horses for courses, for mainly dry 80 percent Tarmac use they're the best I've had and I've used all the usual suspects.

I guess you have to be honest about your intended usage and buy accordingly :)
