Location
Oslo, Norway.
Norway is a long country, and we have fjords and high mountains.
Up north we have midnight sun in summer and no sun in the vinters.

A spot on the map can be a dry place, and only one hours riding from there it can be wery wet.
And in Karasjok (up north, Finnmark), and in Drevsjø/Røros, (Trøndelag, south east); Those places are on the list showing the coldest AND the hottest places in Norway!

It is wery hard to tell you what weather you are going to get when you are here on holiday.
But normally they get much rain in the south west, like Bergen.
And normally we have many days with sun and it's nice to BBQ dinner outside in the south east.
Normally there are much snow up in the mountains, specially in the mountains not close to a fjord.
And normally it do not get that cold in vinter close to fjords.

-Whats normal?

Do not click at the Brit flag up in the corner for this page;
choose an area, and then click at the flag in the new page.

Average temperature vinter Oslo:
Often when the weather rapport say -5c, but at my place just outside Oslo, a little higher, is gets -10c. That is because of the fjord, and because Oslo is a ''hole'' - it makes it less cold then 15 minutes up north.

Often when it rains in Oslo I get snow up here.
When I drive my car to Tyrigrava it might snow here, down closer to the fjord it's raining, and in east at Tyrigrava it's snowing - and I drive for max. 40 minutes!

I have been to the east part of Finnmark for holiday in June, July and August, many times, mostly in the 1980ties. Once I was walking outside wearing a t-shirt and it felt OK - not cold. ONCE that happend!
And once when I walked out of the plane I sat my foot in snow, in the summer.
I was wearing my vinterjacket most of the time when I was up there.
Down here I normally do not wear it for weeks, sometime months...

Do not plan to drive up here in vinter with tyres for summer use on your car - or motorbike. The tyres for vinter is made of a different type of rubber. And many of us (like me) prefèr studded tyres for our cars.
Some ride a motorbike in the vinters, but I don't dare.

I hope you learned something!

Oh yes!! We are doing (pretty much) your posted 5 day route, but skipping the last bit to Oslo, and popping off to see the heavy water plant & ride around that area a bit at the end. I'm more worried that they'll be no where in Lysebotn to watch the England vs Sweden football next Tuesday!

Where would I need to go to see the famous 'Norwegian Blue Parrots?'

Is it true that they pine for the fjords if removed from Norway? :)

You mean it does something other than rain then?????
Yes; sometimes it are snowing...

You where in Norway for one halfes day, and then ''it's raining all over all the time in Norway''.
We meet in Sweden, remember?
It must have been something in that Swedish beer...

Give it another try!
I hope you do. ...if you want to ride the bike you ride theese days, than you need more than one day to explore Norway! Buy a proper bike next time, buy a Scarver! :D

-Are you pulling my leg?
If not, tell me more about those parrots as I have never heard of it.

Oh, that type of Blue Parrots! Ah-a! :)
Yes, everything you have heard is true. And the reason why you never see a pirate with a parrot on his shoulder anymore is becase that defect is spread to all types of parrots now, all colors. No parrot cope to see a fjord or the ocean; if they do they all pine to death for Norway.

(A good story! :bounce1 Thank you! )
