Tyre advice

Off to that there Europe soon on my 2018 1200 Adv.
Anakee 3's fitted. Front is 3mm in centre of tyre and rear is 2mm.
Should I change them before the trip?
I like to get my monies worth .

Yes, Definitely. Rear is almost done anyway. It'll save you worrying about it

legal limit is 1mm so you only have 1mm of wear left on the rear

if you are riding down to the Channel for a ferry/tunnel, why not book the bike in for new tyres in Kent/Hants/Dorset/Devon as the rear will be fucked by then?

I find it hard to believe that people will run bike tyres to the limit, tather than spend some cash

i replaced my tyres a few weeks ago they'd hit 6K

i dont care how much more they could have lasted i had a trip coming up and wanted fresh rubber

it's a no brainer

leave them on it will make the trip much more exciting when you have to start trying to find a foreign Johnny tyre fitter that has what you want in stock and the utter joy of using your TwatNav9000 to find the place avoiding motorways of course.

Then being dry bummed on the price cos they had you over a barrel mate

Take my advice its great fun and really makes the trip

Out of interest, what did you go for?

Ive also got a 3k trip coming up, just replaced my A41 front with the same again, plenty of life left in the rear.
I’ll be binning the Bridgestones when I get back.

I've 3k on my Anakees and off to the IOM Classic/Manx GP on Saturday for 10 days so that should be the end of them.

Will probably then put some PR6's on.

Seems like Bridgestones wear the fronts quicker than rears. Never had them myself but I've heard others say it.

Will probably then put some PR6's on.

No mate , sadly far from it. Bikes only got 2400 miles on it but from experience with the A41s on my GS and the way they’re wearing I’m not sure they’d be too good for another 3 to 3.5 k on the Tuscany trip.

I’m thinking Anakee Roads or the Contis TAs when I get back.

I'm expecting ~5k from my Anakees and for sure the IOM will see them done. Liverpool & back with kill the centre too..

Always look at tyres as miles per mm. That'll give you a good indication of how much is left on them for an upcoming trip.

Keeping in mind whilst the dry grip gets better at low tread, the wet weather performance declines....

On my CTA3's (v spec) i average about 1200 miles per mm on the rear, and 1500 miles per mm on the front.

These are big bikes and there's a lot of force going through the front tyre. I'm expecting the tread blocks to chamfer before the tread's gone.

Conti TA3s have been good all round, I've put 3.6k miles on them, front has only just worn through the Conti logo, zero cupping, and the rear still has 4.2mm in the centre. These were partly worn by FlipFly when I bought the alloy wheels from him. I'll most likely replace with the same when due. But curious how the Anakee roads are, not seen any reports on them yet.
