Me to , changed a new set in Belgium after 350 miles as they were awful , was wet , but they were horrible . Only put them on as was doing a 4000 mile trip and all have said they last well.
Put Conti back on and had a ball , okay they were almost worn out by 3500 but I managed and had no problems.
Took a new set off my 2015 bike and my 2016 as well and replaced with Contis.
May be interested to try the new Scorpions 2 as used the older tyre years back on my 1200 TC and they from memory were good , but then went to the LC so did not try them again.IMHO tho:hide

The Anakee III's aren't on the list? I don't find anything wrong with them and continue to replace them.

+1 I have no problem with them at all even riding very briskly in the wet. I had them on a 1100, my Hex 1200 TC and three WC's :nenau

Me too

Bike came with A IIIs on but I find them fine so far

Had PR4s on my previous bike and they were excellent in all conditions, they did track once or twice in the wet

Only problem, I got a puncture on the way home from the fitters, 11 km ! Fluke maybe ?

Loved the Scorpion Trail II on my Hexhead.
Most of my miles are spent in the twistys playing (preying on) with the sportsbikes. The front Pirelli ended up wearing in a strange manner, the sides of the tyre face/profile wore away leaving the profile heading towards looking like a "V" shape.

I may have been over inflating them??

I can't see the Pirelli's having any problem with the extra power of the LC.

Like I say IMHO , they just don't suit me at all as I have had them move around , I put it to the harder compound rubber ( longer mileage) which is a compromise on grip .
But many are very happy with them and I'm sure they are great , just not for me.
Hope the Scorpions with the multi rubber (hard / soft) could be as good as the Conti .I'm willing to give them a go for £300 or however much they are , to find out.

Love it ... The Contis wear the same , its called hard riding , my pressures are always checked ... maybe we are both having too much fun....Shhhhhh
In Spain I can kill a front in 2000 miles One up but I do push hard on those beautiful grippy :drool:drool roads .

I didn't have any issues with my Anakees, just fancied a change, so now have the Trailriders

I tried the PR4's in 2015 on my last GS, worked great in the wet but that grip seemed to taper off. Also found the rear a bit sketch when throttling out of corners in the dry so although the anakee does square off, I'm up and down the A3 all day, so any tyre would square off on mine. The next change will be a front and rear so i will keep an eye in this thread for a good tyre for wet and dry performance, i've no loyalty to the A3, just works for me fine at the moment.

Do you trail brake ?

I'm no Barry Sheene by any means but I've always braked hard and right deep into the bends, I think that's what causes the V shape

That's what I'm saying , if you ride fast you need to rely on the brakes , I use the front mainly as the gs is so steady in the corners.
Two up I would expect 3500 on a front , no more tho as I ride smoothly with a pillion and not as fast and don't rely too much on the brakes

PR4'S
Grip Dry 5
Grip wet 5
Cornering 5
Punctures, never had one in the last 4 sets.
Wear about 5,000 max, same wear as Anakee 3's but don't flat off as badly.

However, I fancy trying some Scorpion Trails next time.

:thumby:

Certainly a long way away from what I consider to be a good tyre!!

Replaced the pseudo off road tyres that were on my GSlc, 4k miles on the clock and they looked original. Back squared off. Handling was good in the dry, sliding around in the wet, hence changing.
Fitted PR4s. Grip wet and dry superb. Back squared off a bit, but only when I managed to get over 3k before punctures. 2! Complete right off tyres both times. Serioulsy though it was folk lore but its true. They are puncture prone. Front lasted well but started to ripple on the edges. put this down to the sipes and if not pushing on a bit might not happen. Again though, I have seen this on other front PR4s on other bikes.
Replaced last time around with Dunlop Roadsmart 3s. Need a bit more scrubbing in (defo slippy new) but they out do the Michelin in every department. Look barely worn after around 3k miles. Includes a Pyrenees week of hooning around northern Spain.

Never had tyres on anything that lasted much over 5k btw on any bike. If your after 10k from tyres then look away from Pr4s.

I had conti trail attacks on my TC and loved um!. When I bought a WC, it came with Anakee 3s on they were ok, but only ok. I changed them for Conti trail attacks 2. I have only just done 250 miles on them ,but already feeling the difference for the better.

You are welcome to buy mine when I get them changed before I take delivery of my bike in March. These will be "unused" on the road that is, but removed from wheels at the dealership.

Personally I hate them. Hence the reason for this thread and poll.

Pm me if you are interested.

Having read through all the posts again it's really quite clear. Everything is down to personal choice. We all seem to love and loathe different tyres on different bikes for different reasons, longevity, wet grip, dry grip, riding styles, experiences, the latest thing, pricing, looks, keeping up with the Jones's. My 09 GSA had metzler tourance, I thought they were good. Tried Anachee A3s. Thought they were better. Thought the PR4s were better still, others think all the above are crap. We'll go forever debating this. You pay your money and make your choice.....

I started with Anakee 3s on my GSA, apart from the road noise I couldn't complain, they did nearly 6000 miles before I changed them as I didn't think they would manage 2000 in the Picos, Pyrenees and back up through France. I didn't want the Anakees again and ended up with Tourance Next as I couldn't get Roadtecs in the time available.

Quite happy with the Tourance Nexts in all conditions.

So far the PR4 is the preferred choice by most people, second in the line are the Avon Trail Riders, following by Metzeler Tournace Next & Conti Trail Attack 2.

So personal opinions, I read The PR4 are great but are prone to punctures and do not last as long as I would expect a tyre to last. I have no previous experience with Avon Trail Riders tyres and as such I can't comment on them. The look of the tyre does however suit the GS/A and I read reviews on them, which seem to suggest that it is a good tyre. Metzeler Tourance Next are good in my opinion as I have first hand experience with them, I've done nearer 10K on them and still have life in the rear ( I am no TT racer and will never be one), Continental Trail Attack 2 I had a short experience with them when I test rode the KTM 1290 Super Adventure, I wasn't concentrating much as to what those tyres felt like as I was riding an unfamiliar bike and tyre performance wasn't my priority. However it is not to say that these tyres are bad, I think these are quite good actually. So my I think the choice for me would be quite obviously simple, It is either Avon or Metz. I have 24 hours to decide and find best price.

Does anybody have any discount codes or can suggest a place that would do a descent price in comparison to tyreleader.com?

Bahnstormer did two Trailriders for £195.00, with a deal on fitting (FOC), as they owed me a favour
