After ringing round all of the suppliers near to me (all three of them!) my choices are as follows:
Tourance Next ($245 front and $329 rear, (£287 for the set) or
Annakee 3 ($240 front and $309 rear, (£274 for the set).

I'd love to hear your opinions on quality and cost.

Thanks,
DA

Ride in ride out?
Loose wheels only
Supply only
Not a lot point in comparing to a uk price though .

How's this compare
Orig tourance, fitted to loose wheels £205
New TKC 70 again to loose wheels £215

The prices are more comparable than I thought.

Can I ask what people think of the two types of tyres? Is one type recognised as being 'better' or shall I just go with the cheapest?!

Do you really want/need the semi off road design? I have started using Michelin Pilot 4's and they are superb. The new tourances are now made in China, and although this should not matter a jot, they just do not feel as good as the German made ones on the road.

I've done the same as fatnfast. I'm super happy with the choice...

Obviously I'm not doing anything off road.

Some of the local gravel roads around here are superb and I do want to get more into the off road stuff, but realistically not enough to warrant getting a set of knobblies.

That looks like the road I drove over the Coromandel from Whitianga. Still classed as a state highway FFS..! Great fun in a little Mazda :)

Again i'm with Fatnfast. Shame. The PR4s are damned good. But what about Anakee 2s. Is there a reason no one mentions them?

On a separate note where are your pictures taken? The roads look great!

I've had lots of sets of original Tourances, a set of Nexts and a set of Annakees - I found all worked well, did' like the Annakees because they seemed to take much longer to warm up and were not confidence inspiring when cold. Original Tourances last the longest so would get my vote. Having said that, currently have a set of Maxis Presa Detours on my 1150 (got them for free from Ride magazine) and have been impressed so far although only covered 500 miles in the dry - also come with lifetime guarantee.

It's called Waipori Falls Road, just outside Milton in Otago.
I took a few photos that day, But that road is nothing special for around here. :thumb

wibbly wobbly

No one else has mentioned the Next's propensity to tram line. Much more grip than I am aware of / will ever use, but spoilt by the bike tripping over lines on the road. This set = 1st and last.
