Hi Lads and Ladies,
I have found some tyres here in Argentina for my R1100Gs
They are Pirelli MT60
But the front size is 110/90 r19 and my orginal tyre is 110/80 r19. Will this tyre do and does the 80 and 90 make any difference at all ?
thanks
jose
Joe, the 110 is the width of the tyre, and I understand, the second figure is the percentage of the width which accounts for the height, so 90% of 110 or 80% of 110 as the case may be. This is a higher sidewall, and as mentioned, a bigger tyre than the original. Could be used if there's nothing else, but one thing you should watch out for is the speed rating. After the 3 numbers of the tyre size (in this case 110/90 19 there is usually a number and letter combination which indicate the maximum load per tyre at a certain maximum speed. The load and speed are determined by manufactuer's design and testing based on the tyre size and tread pattern. A coarse pattern will heat up more quickly therefore a lower speed rating will usually apply at the stated load when compared to a normal pattern. So, this should be at least H rated I would have thought....This from the web....
