I've had two new pairs of Metzeler Tourances over the last two years.
I'm just about to buy my third pair this week. I'm getting about 5k miles per set.
Please have a look at the attached photos. I'm getting splits in the front tyres none on the rear. As you can see I have 1 or 2 splits on the right side of the tyre but loads on the left side. The splits on some are quite deep.
Tyre pressures are set properly (minus point 2 or 3 psi over or under) so its either my riding or a problem with these tyres. I'm better going around right handers than left.
Any ideas ?

I had the same and went back to supplier.

They changed them FOC.

My EXP's did the same but the older tourances that I have fitted now haven't. I have seen a few posts whith the same thing in regards to the EXP range.

As mentioned there has been a few threads on this problem recently, not sure if they were the same tyre though.

I'd be writing to the manufacturer if my Tyres did that...even after 5,000 miles!

:thumb2

I had similar, visited local tyre fitters (Metzeler Pirelli agent). Had to buy a new tyre, then old tyre was sent away for inspection and 60% refund given a week later.

Mine had also split deeply on both sidewalls.

Maybe your riding style, if a little on the 'sporty' side would be better suited to a road tyre i.e. Roadsmarts as recommended elsewhere in the forum..

Aren't these tourance EXP's, not Tourances? I had this issue with my EXP's on the front also. I've now changed to Tourances and have to say I really don't like them in comparison to the EXP's. I've tried all different pressures but they still seem wallowy, and not connected some of the time. Will be going back to EXP's.

I used to get a similar thing with Bridgestones on my Bandit. Eventually a service bulletin was issued, upping the pressures from 33psi front/36psi rear to 36 and 42, which seemed to cure the problem.
I've used Tourances for the last 30,000 miles on my GS, never had this happen. I run them at 36psi front and 42psi rear all the time, regardless of load or speeds, no problems. ;)

I have had the same on my tourance front.
I was informed that the cause was due to the pressure being too low, although I used to check them weekly..

Will be keeping an eye on this set
