I have a new front tourance , and would like to replace the rear with a new
tyre , i was thinking of a harder compond tyre , big road miles .
What would you think of a Metz tourance front , with a Metz Enduro 4 rear.
Or what other combination would suit.
Bearing in mind my new Tourance front.
Or just run with tourances ?.

Hiya Phil, When I took mine in for a service I had a Metz on the front and a Bridge on the back, the Service manager said it was frowned upon and recommended a pair of either tyre make. (it had come with a set of Bridges and I was replacing a tyre at a time so to speak) I may be wrong but are tyres supposed to be 'matched' if thats the right word.

For the last 4K miles, i've been running a bridgestone 020 rear tyre, and a metz Enduro front. Made no difference to the handling whatsoever, ask my loan customers who've been mostly riding it. They don't even notice :D

I've used a part worn Metz4 front with a new Tourance rear before. No issues and I cannot see why it would not be okay the other way around.

The "use a matched pair" advice given by tyre dealers etc is just them erring on the side of caution as there are some tyres that do not suit one another: IME these are mainly hypersports tyres that have weird profiles.

Try it. If it feels okay go with it. If you fall off then you know you've fuucked up. Caveat emptor....
