I know its been discused before but just want to put my pennyworth in, I get tyre noise on my r1200r 2016 I'm sure its tyre noise because when I ride over the new smooth type of tarmac in the uk the noise completely goes
Whats you think?

Tyre noise.

If your riding with Knobbly tyres, as they rotate, they generate air pockets between the tread blocks. This can amplify the sound produced, leading to a louder driving experience.

The best alternatives to knobbly tyres for quieter driving are touring and all-season tyres, which are designed with smoother tread patterns and softer rubber compounds to minimize noise. Brands like Michelin, Bridgestone, and Continental offer models specifically engineered for reduced road noise and enhanced comfort.

Same happens with a car

Smoother the road surface less pockets of air, as Steptoe mentions #4, happens more noticeably while in a car.
