Hi,
Just filled ultraseal into my new tyres which were fitted a few weeks ago, and noticed the back tyre is fitted arseways. Conti Trail Attack. Arrow beside "Rear" is reverse of actual drive direction. Fecking ****ers and me too for not checking.
Does anyone know if this is a serious problem or not? I will lose the ultaseal if I get it changed, and cannot buy more here, but of course if the tyre has to be flipped, too bad.

I wouldn't give it a moments thought, then again I don't ride very fast.
 
If it was me I'd have them put it on the right way and replace the ultraseal ;) Just another excuse if anything goes wrong for the insurance not to pay out ....
 
One of the main design features of the thread pattern is to disperse water while riding in the wet. With the tyre on backwards, the water will not be distributed as it should. Its not too much of a problem on knobblies, but on a road biased tyre it could be! I would get them to change it around.
Your insurance could also be affected in the event of an accident.
 
Should be easier to "back in into" corners....?

Only if it were proved that the tyre being incorrectly fitted had directly caused or added to the crash.

It's like the old myth of not declaring a loud can on insurance automatically invalidating it...it doesn't, unless it significantly ups the perfomance of the bike which leads to it being in the accident.

Otherwise, all that will happen is that the insurance Co. quite rightly refuses to pay for the replacement value of the add on that wasn't declared.

That said, I'd have these Conti's changed*, and insist that they pay for the replacement ultraseal crap that for some reason you've fitted too :augie :comfort

*Purely because they are obviously patterned in a directional way and a switched on copper could cause you grief:blast
 
If your MOT's due any time soon you'll need to do something about it as it's a reason for a failure.

I rotated my car wheels & the MOT examiner spotted it & issued a failure notice.

I recently had a rear tyre repaired, which was refitted incorrectly as soon as I entered a roundabout, I knew something was wrong,( it felt as if I had an off road Knobbly tyre). The fitter gave me a free puncture kit by way of an apology.:thumb2
 
Job done here in BMW Riyadh. Bugger, I know it will worry me although the Conti website story is hardly damning. Best get it done, I guess.

Bin I'd get it changed ASAP but Make sure and tell them there's ultraseal in there cos tyre fitters get grumpy over ultaseal spraying everywhere when they break the bead!

Iin real terms it should be a simple matter to slowly reduce pressure in the tyre (slowly stops ultraseal shooting out and clogging the valve area)

Then to break the bead gently and simply rotate the tyre without shaking it about too much

The Ultraseal should remain in the main tread area if the folks are anyway careful
 
Good point about letting her down slowly. Older tyres I have had with ultraseal have had it gelled onto the inside of the tyre, but I'd say this is still liquid, only rode it once since fitting. Let's try !
