My new (to me) 1200GSA like many others is equipped with tyre pressure monitors. However I'm not a lover of the wire wheels (especialy cleaning them) and I do no off road riding, so today I have managed to pick up a pair of alloy wheels which I plan to fit instead.
Swapping over the brake discs and ABS ring etc... doesn't present any issues and I've also got the longer securing bolts for the rear wheel, but I don't know if I can swap over the tyre pressure monitors from the wires wheels to the alloys?
Has anyone done this or do I need to buy a new pair (about £150 for two I'm told
) Personally I'm not that bothered about having the monitors so what happens if I run the alloy wheels with standard valves? Will the dash reading just be blank on the pressure readings or will it go crazy thinking both tyres are flat?
I'd appreciate anyones experiences before I get busy with the spanners
