What is the correct tyre pressure for two up riding ?

Not according to the makers of my Tyres. Bridgestone recommend 36/42 regardless of load.
To be honest for any future tyres I use I will contact the manufacturer rather than rely on.. in the case of my bike recommendations that are at least 14yrs out of date.

Always run mine solo at 32/36 and gone up to 42 with pillion/luggage

The differences in tyre pressures that people use does make me wonder how much difference it makes. The old type Tourance used to last 12,000 miles on my 1150 running at the same pressures as Bryn suggested. if it was way too low, then I'd have though that they'd have worn out prematurely, or induced some dodgy handling?
Tyre manufaturers always quote the highest pressure for liability reasons - tyre damage can occur through overheating if tyres are run at too low a pressure for a given load (e.g. 32/36 two-up with loads of luggage). No damage will occur through running solo with 'full load' pressures so that's what they quote.
Didn't you wonder why bike manufacturers all give pressures for solo and fully loaded conditions but tyre manufacturers generally quote only one set of pressures? Arse covering. It's nothing to do with the manufacturer's data being 14 years out of date.

no.. strangely enough. I didn't wonder why that should be at all. I looked at the revision date on the manual. 1996. and thought.. well forget that. These tyres weren't even thought of then. I admire BMW.. but not as fortune tellers.
