Reading the article in this weeks MCN about the tyre pressure sensors Triumph are using on the new Tigers led me to thinking about the sensors on my GS.

I have one here in front of me. Unlike the Triumph ones they are a completely sealed unit - no scope to change a battery.:blast

So does this mean the BMW one's are just disposable items and from time to time new ones will be needed at circa £80.00 a pop?

Anyone had any experience of how long they will last?!

According to BMW they should last about 10 years. That's the answer a German GS-er got from them.

My own Tire Watch sensors (which look similar to those used by Triumph) lasted 2.5 years. No user exchangeable battery.

If mine only lasted 2.5 years I would feel a little let down.

The TPMS units are made by Schrader, the ones made for cars are given a 10yr 100,000 ml life expectancy.... needless to say the ones for bikes no MTF or mileage is given.
