Tyre pressure sensors purchase

I tried fitting my own tyres once to my old Hexhead GSA. Never again, when the tyre fitters can do it for a few quid and not ruin the anodising whilst at it like I did.

I completely understand your thinking and I shared it for a long long time. But I've decided to dive into this one.

My front rim has suffered on this little journey, but it's cosmetic. Maybe I'll pick up a wheel and rebuild it (powder coating, new spikes etc). But right now I'm climbing the walls to get back out onto it!

After our conversation... I'm going though all the threads looking at stuff I have to get. :D

I've seen that you guys managed to fit the chap sensors, but you mention a slow leak and I'd rather not have that at all.
I'm trying to find the original sensors... let's see how it goes. Otherwise, just standard valve.

Don't need afraid of the cheap sensors.

There are only two places leaks can occur - in the valve core and/or the main 'union nut' as BMW calls it. Both are a relatively easy fix - but over time 10yrs+ - the main seal hardens and loses it's ability to seal. But it's only ever a slow leak and the solution is to either get your wallet out (€35 for one union nut and seal - porca miseria!) or buy two new sensors complete with seals and union nuts for 1/3 of the cost . It's bit of a no brainier.
