If you fit a new (as in, fresh out the box, never been used before) Tyre Pressure Sensor, do you need to do anything to "activate" it? I know it needs to be coded to the bike, and I can do that with my GS-911 - I was just wondering if there is anything needs to be done to switch it on, as I understand there's a battery inside it.

To answer my own question - "No, the new sensors start working all by themselves when the wheels start turning."

Coding them to the bike does require a GS-911. The new sensor comes with a unique code number on a sticky label, and this can be manually entered using the GS-911. If you don't have this number, you can apparently get the bike to recognise it by letting the tyre right down for a few seconds and then presumably reinflating it while the GS-911 is connected. BMW dealers apparently have a special tool to do it without letting the tyre down, but I have no idea how it works or what it does.
