what pressure do i need in my tyres when i'm takin a pillion.....i'm usin road attack............help

No doubt , the Inteligencia will be along to correct me.

To the Best of my knowledge

front , 2 up 2.5bar
rear , 2 up2.9 bar

dont mention it

Either 32psi front & 36psi rear, I use that even on the odd occasion I have a pillion, the other st is 36 psi front & 42 rear. Or if you remove one of the little plastic side panels it`ll tell you what pressures to use (either one of the pairs I mentioned)

Can i join in, 36 and 42 as well :)

36 and 42 as well, all the way. Yuk with 32 front!

Brands of tyre seem to make no difference; that's where I always end up on just about every bike I've ridden.

I'm relatively new to bikes so I might be talking out me arse, but shouldn't you follow what the manufacturer says for tyre pressures? If you run with 36/42 (pillion and/or luggage pressures) when you don't have the extra load, the tyres wouldn't be under as much load and would be a different shape to that intended? I would think that the tyres deform under pressure and the trick is to match the tyre pressure to the load so that they deform by the right amount. If the tyres were over inflated they wouldn't deform enough and you would end up with a smaller contact patch on the road? Also doesn't it make the ride a bit hard using the higher pressures with no pillion?

I use the pressures reccomended by the tyre manufacturer for my bike NOT those in the WMB manual.

The tyre manufacturer is the one who has done the testing of their particular tyre on my particular bike.

In all cases so far I have strangely found that my seat of the pants handlingometer has concured with their reccomendations :thumb

For Trailmax's, 020's and my current Avons the rec. pressure is 36/42, solo or pillion, winter or summer, wet or dry so that's what I run them at.

As an aside, when I ran my original fitment Trailmax's at the manual's rec. pressures of 32/36 the bike handled like a wet fart :(

They dont deform that much, its not that critical, mine is 36/42, but if you prefer it slightly less or more then thats ok to, the tyre or bike manufacturer only reccomend a pressure, its personal and for each individual to decide, it just is a good starting point :thumb
