Ok It may seem like a daft question, it probably is, but I am off for a long weekend away at ther end of the week, and thought I would just check tyre pressures and oil etc.

Now in the book of words (manual) it says one up, 31psi and 36 psi, one up with luggage or two up 36 and 39, two up with luggage 36 and 42.

On the back of the book it gives the one up with luggage or two up as 31 and 39psi!!

What's right for a 14st rider and two panniers full but not expanded?

The handbook does give two conflicting figures. As far as I'm aware the correct figures are: one up 2.2 (31.9) and 2.5 (36.3); two up 2.5 and 2.7 (39.2); two up with luggage 2.5 and 2.9 (42)

Assuming they're Tourance, most (?) people use 36/42psi. Certainly the pressures I've always had recommended to me and the ones I prefer.

I also run my Dunlops at 36 front 42 rear without problems - whether 1 up or 2 up. I believe a lot of tyre manufacturers are standardising tyre pressures to avoid confusion. Bridgestone tyres also seem to mostly use these pressures.

Hi Mouse, did you notice any difference to the ride & handling when you upped the pressures? Assuming you can remember after all this time! :D

I ran tourances with 36/40 for 1 up, no bags, but after complained of brake shudder dealer said to run front at 40. Supposed to reduce cupping. Did nothing for shudder.

I run mine at 32 front 36 rear when no load nor pillion, but for high speed high load I'd use 36/40. Tyre manufacturers seem to be standardising on higher pressure recommendations as a sort of play safe message as lower pressures mean higher temperatures which is OK for scratching about but not too safe for long distance & high speed such as motorway riding.

In reply to Big Lee, no I didn't notice any difference in handling between running the front at 32 compared to 36. Never had any grip problems with the Dunlop D607 tyres so I just leave the pressures at 36/42 all the time.
