I just found out my tyre pump will not work off the 1200GS accessory socket because the socket is limited to 5 amps. It works OK until I attach it to the tyre and has to work under pressure. I am glad I checked now rather than when I really needed it.
I have changed the plug so I can run it from my heated waistcoat connector which has a 10 amp fuse.

Great, now you can have air conditioned clothing or a tyre warmer :thumb

I use an Airman Sparrow Compact Tyre Inflator (i.e. pump) from the accessory outlet with no problems. The Tech Spec for the pump merely says " < 10 Amps".
Maybe you need to ditch your existing pump and go for one of these.

The 1200GS accessory socket is good for 10 amps, as per advice from BMW:

Thank you for your Email to Motorrad Customer Information.
We can confirm that the Canbus aux power socket is ok up to 10 amps then it
will stop working until the consumer is unplugged.

I guess that your pump is drawing more than 10 amps and shutting down the canbus system. Odd therefore that it's not blowing the 10 amp fuse on your waistcoat connector. Anyway, it seems to be working anyhow, so that's alright :bounce1

The US spec 12GS is only good to 5 amps, the RT and ST good to 10 amps. Maybe they made a mistake?

Jim
