What sort of mileage should I be getting out of Tourances. My bike has done 9000miles and I have about 3mm tread front and rear. This is with a mixture of touring and everyday riding.

Any advice appreciated.

Doing better than mine. Had 2mm left on rear and 3mm(ish) on front at 8K miles, when I relaced both due to rear puncture, I wanted to keep front/rear matched and I'm due some big miles soon so. I've kept the front as an emergency spare, as they seem to be like hens teeth round here.

Tourances

Anyone know of a supplier Manchester/Cheshire area for a pair of Tourances

I got quoted £160 for a pair of Tourances fitted to loose wheels by National tyres, who have garages in Manchester area.

Phew! I paid £174 and took the lazy man's option last week (ride-in, ride-out) and though they seemed a bit expensive.....

Have 57 miles on my new Tourances and they are shiny...... and covered in little nipples! Have to wear them off.....

P.S. As a scouser are you allowed to go to Mancland? Do you risk having that Liver Bird icon on the bike? And did they ask you if the loose wheels were off your vehicle?

Havn't actually had a new set fitted yet only got the price, as National tyres have garages in Liverpool I can get them there, but I am sure If I took the wheels To Manchester as I do My GS for service at William's they would treat them fine.
They talk funny and not proper like what I does, but apart from that have always got on O.K.
I do have Liverpool logo and badge on bike, and have had no problems in the past.

Paid £125 for a pair of Tourances last time, from a place in Baildon Nr Shipley. Baildon Mill Tyres I think they were called. £5 extra for delivery to my home if req'd but a friend went over and collected two sets (one for each of us) and he has all the fitting equipment at his disposal. Usual price for a local place to fit to loose wheels should be around £18 incl disposal of old tyres.

The story goes that these guys in Baildon bought a huge consignment of Tourances which were left w/o a buyer as Triumph were supposed to take them but couldn't when the factory burned down. You can imagine how good a deal they got for taking the whole consignment and so they were able to sell on at much lower prices than anyone else. This then gave them a really good discount with the importers on future orders, and so on......I've heard that people like Allan Jefferies can't buy them wholesale any cheaper than BMT are selling them retail.

HTH but times can change & they may not be doing the same prices now.

I,v just phoned the place at baildon on 01274532777 and they are selling them at £135 a pair plus £8 postage sounds like a good deal as I only need a front it will cost me £65 so it may be worth buying both and storing the back. got 9000 out of the back (just!) and the front is still on there at 10000.

Tourance life

Just thought I would throw in how long tyres last. I am running Tourance rear and Enduro 4 front (varadero tyre- recommended by Wally at CW) and get 13000 out of a set of tyres. This is mostly a 100mile a day commute but does include a fair amount of two up riding (I do not consider myself that saintly a rider either!) I thought this was the norm, but people keep talking about 7-8000 miles?

Is it me?

Pazza, how do you get 13,000? Your mileometer gotta be wrong man.Me,Tourance. 1150GS. Geriatric pilot. Taking tuition for IAM. 4,000 miles. looking for new front and rear already. Who gets 13,000? Do you use the main stand and an electric drill? Please tell me where I am going astray.

I have been using Tourances on my Adventure. Front was changed once, after 15,000 miles. Rear has been changed twice, after 11,000 miles.

This is doing regular commute into/out of London and bombing it every other week up and down the M40/M4.

the bike is due for its 30,000 service [booked in for June with North Oxford]. But I will be changing my tyres soon afterwards.

I have always been a bit disappointed with the wear on the back, especially as it squres off to such an extent that I HAVE to change them, but with plenty of tread left. The wear on the current [3rd] set is proving to be somewhat disappointing, as it has been only 7,000 miles since they last got done and I don't push the bike in Winter.

The front is due for changing in about 2000 miles. It is nearly down to the 2mm.

10800 for a rear Tourance, 13500 for the front. And that's the mileage with the R1100R speedo drive fitted instead of the standard one.
