Tyre valve blown out

I was just cleaning me BMW Gs1150 wheels rims of shite and caught the rubber valve - only slightly with the brush THE CENTRE BLEW OUT OF THE VALVE and obviously deflated big quicktime = I had been doing a "Good Tadge" over the Motorway speed limit about 10 minutes earlier
Was I unlucky or lucky and has anyone else had an experience with the centres blowin out of "rubber valves"
Helpful or tips appreciated :thumb2

I had it happen on the M42 in the van, valve blew & rapid deflation
When I went into ATS the next day for a new tyre all the other valve stems were perished, so we swapped them

do you use garage air lines, just wondering if you over flexed the valve i know i have major problems getting the airline seated on front, the disks get in the way

I have a new valve every other tyre, so it must have been a duff one I guess.

My local tyre man changes the valve stem at every tyre change, bike or car as a matter of course. I would have thought that that would be standard procedure?

+1 for the cost its not worth taking the chance.

They look pretty good, and at half M&P's price. Are the valves on an 1150GS 8 or 11mm?

I think it was the 11.3mm, but you would need to double check, I did a bit a research first. If its the GSA spoked wheels they fit straight on, if its the GS alloy wheels you need to dremel off a very short distance of the raised centre ridge either side of the valve hole to accomodate the new valve.

Update and info that may help you avert a similar incident My bike is an 1150GS
The rubber "car type" of valve is for tubeless tyres
Same as on yer car or trailer - This was a new last tyre change valve = the stubby type
The stubby type has about 3/8 of an inch of inserted and bonded brass tube which the threaded valve is screwed into . The whole lot blew out not the little valve = brass tube and all
I have called at me mates he has seen same on old trailers and car tyres that have been in a long time and degraded etc.He also said a guy came in last week with his car after the whole lot blew out of his whilst removing the connector as he inflated the tyre
HE SUPER GLUED IT BACK IN AND DROVE AROUND ALL WEEK
Looks like a good wiggle every now and again would show this problem up before any incident Please have a check Yer dont want this to happen at any speed
I have swapped the stubby type for the longer and uglier car length ones - they have about an inch of bonder tube in them so should be a bit better/more durable
Ride safe lads HTHY
