Bridgestone BT020's :thumb

On my second set, fookin ace, stick like shit to a blanket, great in the wet, quicker on the turn in than Tourances.

I'll quote Geezer: If you just plod about stick with the Tourances, But if you like to throw your GS into bends go for the BT 020's

Work for me.

:)

p.s Crap on wet grass though

That has to be your funniest post

:jes

Tried both Tourances and BT020's and have been surprised by the results. The Tourances are more predictable in the wet with no less grip than the 020's and last another couple of thousand miles. All IMHO.

Sorry Margus but I`ve got to totally disagree with that.

Although I prefer the Pirelli MT90 to the Tourance, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the Tourances I previously had in the wet...not remotely.

Are you actually referring to Tourances on wet tarmac,or gravel roads ???

Tarks,

the compound of Tourance i find VERY hard (it's probably for reason - very high mileage). Got my first rear Tourance in Turkey - even there with damn hot weather and boilingly hot tarmac roads it took at least fifteen minutes to get the tires warm - don't accelerate hard coming from big corners - they are slippy. And i find them very slippy in the rain and they can be fatal if pushing hard in the rain with cold tires.

The "new" GS came with fron and rear Tourance fitted - i did a few hundred kilometres ride in some 5C cold weather and they never warmed up it seemed so.

The similar Metzeler Enduro 4 (softer compound, don't last that long) i tryed on my previous GS were notably better on cold conditions and on in the rain IMHO. I think there's a reason why Metz want's to stop the production of Tourance (or they already have stopped?) - you may get huge mileage out of them, but it's only bought out by the compromise of giving them too hard rubber compound that doesn't "warm up" on very cold and is more "slippy" in wet conditions. Not telling it's hugely notable while driving, but at least i sense some difference (especially compared to Enduro 4) rendering Tourances a bit unsafe-side tires for me. Better to have less mileage but better wet/cold traction, at least for me. Life costs more than tire wear.

Tourance maybe excellent price/mile tire for U.S.A. with endlss long and straight highways, but not to risk here in Eastern Europe with curvy&bumpy roads and shiite coming down from the sky and with cold mornings and evenings.

Haven't tried the MT90s yet, we just got Pirelly MC tire dealer here so maybe worth trying them out as pan-European travel tyre with spare knobbies packed on the bike to minimize their wear and put them on right time - in third-world sure i prefer knobbies (K60) above any street tire, i just love gravel and loose surfaced roads :thumb

Why aren't your footpegs down against the tarmac!?? Or was it just fast curve? :nenau (;))

With soft Heidenau K60 knobbie tires the footpegs make nice noise btw:

(note me with one hand and doing a pic with other - never try this at home! ;))

I think i already posted, i did one smooth crash with them as well trying to push them to the limits. But still they do amazingly well for a knobby tire!

Partly because if you notice I was just in the throes of turning into a late apex and also because I make a habit of not dragging bits of the bike. (A lesson learned a long time ago on my Norton Commando)

However, the point was that I used Tourances on a track day with no problem whatsoever. I even managed to ride around the outside of a GSXR1000 at one point. Remember that this was in Scotland with the ambient temperature < 15 deg C. and it was wet at the start of the day.

Tourances did me grand 'round the Nurburgring...although i did only pass one other bike.....Me mate on his Aprilia Mille :mmmm

How i laughed.... :moped:

Got the new tourances yesterday... OOOOH IT'S TWOOO..... IT'S TWOOO what they say. absolutly brilliant and what a difference.

Unfortunatly turned me into a road hooligan for the commute this morning but this should pass.... maybe.

'I was only warming them up Constable, the old and experienced riders advised me to do it.... them over there.... '...

Ade I am just about to go from T66 to Tourance (spc deal £178 for the pair)
a) wacha fink between the 2
b) is this a good price (sorry but I caaarnt be ...... 'd to shop around for yet another 3d saving)
c)stoopid :o question of the month, is it worth keeping the old ones (still loads left for dry weather season, or should I make another monkey swing?

You'll find the Tourances make it a different bike! And I wouldn't even inflict T66's on a monkey - they're that fekkin crap even int' dry - and int' wet

Get some serious lean angles now.

In need of some new rubber, thinking of buying Tourance again 'caus I like them and everyone else seems too, but I'm tempted to try these Heidenau it's a saving of £40. What would you go for?
You could try the new Bridgestone Battle Wings, and then tell us what they're like.

I'm with Tisky... Heidenaus rule, but i also like TKC's, depends on whether i'm going on a trip as to which i use.
