Tyres ... Any thoughts?

Can anybody give me advice on what rubber to wear on my GS12? - some light offroad is occasionaly done, other than that its mainly A / B road work. Also - does anyone have a lead on a (Good / Cheap) suplier & fitter in the Guildford / Dorking area?


Do not judge someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes. That way, when you judge them ... you have their shoes and are a mile away ..

My bro runs Metzler Tourances on his 1200ADV and it transformed the handling. I a Tourance man on my 1150 too and from a confidence point of view they are fantastic (very good in the wet too). Michelin Anakees are well rated too but I don't have any experience of them so can't comment. I've done 5000 miles on my Tourances and would expect at least another 5000 before they are at the point of changing (I ride at a smooth 70-90mph with the odd looney moment). I laughed when people mentioned that type of mileage cause I used to get 3000 out of BT010's on my VFR750, but GS's are really very good at extending tyre life.

I use Guildford Tyres in Chilworth - they are about the only place round here, and I certainly haven't found anywhere cheaper outside of London. They are not THE cheapest, but they are pretty friendly, know what they are doing, and you can watch the work being done. It's ride in - ride out.
