I run Avon Trailrider, I currently need a rear tyre but the front is fine.
I'm considering putting a Roadtec 01 on the rear for wet weather grip through the winter
My question is................ would there be problem mixing these two tyres? (different profile etc etc)

I've had 2 sets of Anakee 3's and find them a tad noisy and they square off quite quickly, they are quite a good tyre though. I've recently spent 3 weeks with a German pal in Morocco and he's had excellent results from his Conti Trail Attack2's, which i now have fitted. I've just done 400 miles around Wales this weekend and can't find fault with them.
BTW my German pal reckons BMW have bought up all the Anakees up hence the lack of them.
 
Bridgestone A40s. Very good in both the wet and dry.

I have used (in this order) the OEM Anakee III's, PR4 trail (set), then PR4 trail front + GT rear and now on Dunlop RoadSmart III´s .
I will never again use the trail/GT combo again on my GSA.
The PR4 trail matching set were ok, but BADLY deformed after 7 or 8 thousand KM´s.

I am about to move onto my second rear Dunlop RSIII. After 10,000km, the front is still perfect & the rear is coming down to the wear bar in the centre.
Communting, scratching, rain, shine.....the RSIII is my go to tire for now. Feels absolutely perfect on the GSA.

I ride quite hard not nutter but not slow.will not go off road so road type tyres needed.
The bike has an annakee they seem ok but I wanted to understand adv tyres as only ever had sports bikes used Bridgestone mainly did have avons liked them sticky but they didn't last long!
So I'm not worried about tyres being long lasting i.e. 2500 to 3000 for rear is excellent in my head as on my tl1000 r I only got 1200 !
 
I had two punctures on PR4's this spring and nearly a third (managed to dig out the offending piece of chipping), all caused by the sharp stone chippings which were being used for road resurfacing in North Yorkshire :mad:

I hadn't had a puncture since 2007, which was also a Michelin tyre on my K1200S.

I've now fitted Metzler Tourance Next's and they did a pretty fine job thrashing down the Ribblehead - Settle road yesterday afternoon :thumby:

Ditto on the A40's, pal and i had these fitted 150 quid for the pair and rode to Corsica on GS and GSA , had such fun on the many twisties .they stuck well wet or dry and loads less noise than Anakee which will never be back on my cickle.

4000 were done on a trip to Croatia, lots of twisties so even spread of wear. Agree I should ride it harder. Very rarely use dynamic mode and use engine breaking instead of braking.

My gsa went in for its 6000 mile service today and they found a nail in the rear, as you say no Anakees available anywhere!
Although there's still loads left on the front I have told them to put new pr4s on front and rear, my thinking is that if the tyres are a different profile then surely this must make a difference as far as handling is concerned, not sure if that's the case but I'm happier knowing a matching set is on

Sucks we don't get the correct size front here! I'm going to try Scorpion II next time around from the PR4's I am running now.
 
Well thanks to all who actually commented on tyres and i look forward to more helpful comments about tyres now not 1 -2 yrs ago nice to have fresh info
Will look into dunlops and avon
